The defining feature of the second Trump administration so far has been the Retribution Comeback Tour, with Trump venting his rage on any and all who have ever opposed him, from prosecutors to pundits and politicians, many in his own Party. But providing the backbeat has been an increasingly obvious obsession with gold and gilding.

As a metaphor for wealth generally, one of very few things Trump truly seems to care about, gold is certainly apt, but there’s a limit, and Trump doesn’t seem to have found it. From tacky scrollwork embellishments and knickknacks in the Oval Office, to a golden Marie Antoinette-style White House Ballroom, a proposed gold-accented massive Triumphal Arch near Arlington National Cemetery, regilding the equine statues by the Lincoln Memorial, even a larger-than-life gold statue of himself at his Doral golf club, Trump is cranking out more gold than Midas himself would know what to do with.
The passion for all things aurum goes beyond that which can be tinted gold, into the labeling of things which have no apparent connection: the Golden Dome, the Trump-proposed large-scale missile defense system for the US; the Golden Fleet, centered on a new eponymous “Trump-class” battleship line; and the Trump Gold Card, an expedited immigration visa program proposed by the administration, whereby wealthy non-citizens can pay a multimillion-dollar contribution in exchange for U.S. residency and a streamlined pathway to citizenship.

Why this fixation on the King of Metals? It could be the prominence of several gold-related asteroids in his birth chart. In addition to asteroids Gold 4955 and Golden 4423, we have Golding 8148 (rather like “gilding”), Golda 606701, Goldman 10153 and Goldfinger 16452 (which I particularly like for the “diabolical mastermind” connotations. We’ll also toss in asteroid Midas 1981, for the mythic chappie whose mere touch turned everything to gold (though with Trump, it’s mostly dross).

Born 14 June 1946 at 10:54 AM EDT in Queens, New York (Rodden Rating AA), Donald Trump’s 22 Gemini Sun is conjoined by asteroid Goldman at 18 Gemini, making gold somewhat self-defining (Sun) for him. Consider the golden escalator at Trump Tower which he descended when announcing his candidacy in 2015, and the possibly mythic golden toilet (which, even if untrue, has a certain verisimilitude). As well, a square from an exact pairing of asteroids Goldfinger and Swindle 8680 at 20 Virgo reinforces the tendency to equate himself with the precious metal, while adding a flavor of con-jobbery to his undertakings. Exhibits A-H: Trump-branded gold sneakers, coasters, serving trays, necklaces, dog tags, money clips, a limited-edition bouillon bar, and the now-infamous golden smartphone.

Asteroids Golding and Gold, at 5 and 15 Taurus, both square natal Pluto at 10 Leo, symbol of extreme wealth (the “billionaire’s planet”), doubling down on wealth (Gold, Golding) as an obsession (Pluto) for Trump, much of it attained via criminal means (also Pluto). In addition, asteroid Gold conjoins asteroid Lie 26955 at 17 Taurus – much of Trump’s lies and deceit revolve around his self-valuation, super-inflating his net worth by ridiculous assessments of what his “brand” is worth.
Asteroid Golden at 0 Gemini conjoins the 24 Taurus MC, ruling reputation, status and place in the world. Much as he’d like to, Trump can never hope to eclipse the wealth of the likes of an Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett or Bill Gates, though he’s making a good run at it with the graft and corruption of his second term.

Finally, asteroid Golda at 9 Libra is at station, indicating a theme that is deeply embedded in his psyche. Golda further conjoins Neptune at 5 Libra, underscoring the fraud, deceit and illusion which characterizes his interactions with wealth. With Golda also squared Mercury and asteroid Donn 4689 at 8 and 7 Cancer, Trump just can’t stop talking (Mercury) about his personal (Donn) fortune (Golda), however fraudulently embellished and mispresented (Neptune). Donn and Mercury also conjoin asteroid Midas at 4 Cancer, betraying Trump’s self-image as the “golden boy” of real estate, turning everything he touches (or names) into gold. Also of note – asteroid Midas’ exact opposition to asteroid Whitehouse 4026 at 4 Capricorn, the obvious source of Trump’s fascination with gilding every nook and cranny of the Oval Office and beyond.

It’s interesting that just as Uranus, the planet of controversy and protest, made its final entry into Gemini in April 2026, exactly conjoining natal asteroid Golden, the blowback on the Trump gold mania became a groundswell. Criticism of the T1, the Trump-branded gold-tone smartphone, with its $499 price-tag and delays in shipping of more than a year, reached fever pitch, forcing the company to start filling orders in mid-May. Lawsuits slowed construction of the 90,000 square foot Ballroom, with a federal judge ruling that Trump needed to seek congressional approval for such massive changes in the White House. The Arch has also come under fire as a violation of the Commemorative Works Act, again required congressional pre-approval.
Perhaps the most egregious example of this obsession with gold came at the May 6 dedication of the 15-foot-tall statue in his honor at Trump National Doral in Miami Florida (with its 7-foot-tall pedestal, the statue towers at 22 feet total). The Sun for the date is 15 Taurus – not coincidentally, an exact match for natal asteroid Gold! It’s conjoined by asteroids Dora 668 and Miames 27519 at 18 and 24 Taurus, identifying the Doral site and the Miami location.

Asteroid Golding is at station, turning direct the following day. At 26 Virgo, it squares his natal Sun. Asteroids Golden and Goldman at 3 and 8 Aries conjoin Neptune and Saturn at 3 and 9 Aries, imaging the golden (Golden) idol (Neptune) of the President (Saturn), depicted as a gold man (Goldman).
Asteroid Troemper 28230 at 1 Capricorn, our celestial referent for The Donald, is also at station, and rests on the Apex of a Yod pattern, with inconjunct aspects to a pairing of asteroids Donn and Gold at 29 Cancer and 2 Leo, and Midas with Uranus, both at 0 Gemini.
Uranus here reflects the controversy of the piece, which had to be specifically de-deified by the dedicator, evangelical Pastor Mark Burns, who felt compelled to stamp on any allusion to the Biblical “Golden Calf” statue by emphasizing that the gathering was not an act of worship, but a gesture of honor and patriotism. Mark Burns is indubitably personally invested and in the thick of things, with asteroid Marc 71445 exactly conjunct Troemper (and also at station) and asteroid Burns 2708 at 8 Leo, aligned with Donn/Gold.

Lastly, asteroids Golda and Goldfinger, opposed each other at 28 Leo and 26 Aquarius, conjoin Trump’s natal Horizontal Axis at 29 Leo/Aquarius, with the Ascendant representing our public face, how we wish to appear to others. Another uncannily apt alignment.
Judging by the latest Solar Return, there’s no end in sight to Trump’s gold mania. The 22 Gemini Sun is conjoined by asteroids Midas at 16 Gemini and Ophelia 171 at 17 Gemini, linking Trump’s gold lust (Midas) with the rather unhinged energies of Ophelia, named for the tragic character in Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” who goes insane and drowns herself in a river. The Sun further opposes asteroid Troemper at 24 Sagittarius, and forms a T-Square with asteroid Golding at 0 Libra, marking two more highly personal connections to the theme of gold.

The Moon at 6 Gemini is at the fulcrum of a T-Square with asteroid Golda at 4 Virgo and asteroid Goldfinger at 4 Pisces, betraying Trump’s emotional attachment (Moon) to his favorite metal. Asteroid Goldman at 26 Aries is exactly squared Jupiter at 26 Cancer – can we expect more golden Trump statues are in the offing? Asteroid Golden at 14 Aries conjunct Saturn at 13 Aries could indicate that there’s a pause, hindrance or blockage to further gold ventures, but alas! A grouping of asteroids Washingtonia 886 and Donn at 16 and 15 Leo, with Gold and Bilk 4425 both at 11 Leo, makes Trump’s (Donn) intentions clear – the unstinted gilding (Gold) of the nation’s capital (Washingtonia), paid for by fraudulent (Bilk) demands on the taxpayers’ money.
At least one thing seems certain – Americans won’t have to pay for the de-gilding of the Oval Office once Trump departs DC. He’ll doubtless pack up all the gold trinketry and take it with him.
