December is known for its mix of Sagittarian and Capricorn influences. This year the Mountain Goat has it. Although the Sun and Mercury will be traveling through party-sign Sag, the rest of the planets have conspired to skip the holidays and rush right into a New Year mode.
As the month begins, Solstice ruler Saturn comes on strong. It rules Jupiter, who enters Capricorn on December 2, and on Thursday, December 9, when the Mercury the messenger planet enters Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter in Capricorn), it will disposit Mercury. Saturn also rules the Christmas Eclipse in Capricorn, strengthening the portal of the Solstice and mixing the theme of Christmas and holidays with the Mountain Goat’s go-getter impulse. Capricorn’s empire is expanded by the presence of Jupiter, planet of growth, and Venus, planet of love (and ruler of Uranus in Taurus), all in this Saturnian line-up. Three of these planets, Jupiter, Venus and Sun, trigger the critical Aries point—rubbing in the dynamic effects of the cardinal modality—as does Chiron in its transit through Aries. The wounded healer stations to turn direct at the same critical degree.
