General Astrological Influences, May 2026: Reclaiming Our Time, Empowering Our Abundance

By Crystal Pomeroy

A large golden key lies on a textured brown surface, surrounded by green leaves and a purple flower—symbolizing empowering our abundance and the general influences of May 2026.

After April’s wild rush, May invites us to reclaim our own rhythm and use of time.

Not that things are exactly slow. Uranus, planet of speed, buzzes forward in quick Gemini. Hasty Mars rules several planets, corules the Full Moon that starts the month, and makes key aspects. Intense Pluto rules the Scorpio Full Moon, and stations retrograde, demanding change. Mercury, the other planet of speed, is direct. And, the New Moon in Taurus supports beginnings.

April, with her historic line-up in speedball Aries, and rebel Uranus unleashing his anxiety as he entered Gemini, brought an adrenaline rush that thrust us ahead in a stream of information and activities. In May, with Mercury and Mars joining Sun in solid Taurus, we’re ready to take off our shoes and walk barefoot in the grass. Another key feature of May’s are players Moon, Saturn, and Mercury, astrological rulers of time. Moon reaches fullness twice, enriching the month with an unusual Blue Moon and forming a total of three major lunations. Mercury rules four planets in Gemini. As for Saturn, he asserts his presence at the Scorpio Full Moon, and makes two key aspects to Venus, lady of values, leading to clarity about our priorities and what we really want to do with our time.

As the month starts, the Full Moon in Scorpio of Friday, May 1 has us passionate about the need for change. This Full Moon comes on Beltane, the beginning of Celtic Summer, when nature is in full bloom. We too feel a push to “spring up.”

Moon emboldens us to cast off habits and situations that keep us from doing this. Her closest aspect is a Yod with Venus in restless Gemini and Saturn in pushy Aries, who happen to be in exact sextile. This need for change requires adjustment with our long-term desires. Now, we can pick up our broomstick and chase out the goonies (thoughts, entities, unnecessary distractions) who have been dissolving our boundaries and eroding our resolve, likely since Neptune entered Pisces 14 years ago.

Scorpio has its pulse on life-or-death situations and this Moon imbues us with a sense of urgency to become masters of our schedules and set limits on ourselves, situations and others. With Venus ruling the Taurus line-up of May, this sextile and this lunation are keynotes for the rest of the month, keynotes that reappear cryptically at month’s end. (To see a more detailed view of where this dynamic plays out for us personally, we can check our natal chart for the location of 11 Scorpio, where we need change, 9 Aries, where we can act with authority, and 9 Gemini, spotlighting desires, values and potential support.)

Pluto in pre-retrograde shadow helps us…
