Astrological Influences, December 2025: Working to Fly

By Crystal Pomeroy

A commercial airplane is taking off from a runway with snow-capped mountains and a clear blue sky in the background, setting the scene for December 2025—a moment influenced by unique astrological influences of the season. Daykeeper's General Astrological Influences for December 2025.

Our primitive brains are wired to go for the path of least resistance, to find and stay in a comfort zone. There are times, however, when it comes as a relief to be able to work. With Mercury in retrograde and shadow, and dreamy Neptune also retrograde in Pisces, the mysterious water sign of its rule, so far autumn has been stressful. Despite the doors opened by the Minor Grand Trine over the last several months, and despite our own best efforts, the year-end we hoped for may seem elusive.

December, theoretically vacation-and-celebration time, continues in a demanding tone. The first two weeks call for our best mental, physical and karmic efforts. Then mid-month, just when the holidays are supposed to be in full sway, we can make up for lost time and get on track. As we shake our hands free from the ties that bound them, and put them to the metaphorical plow, we may discover that work, rather than being a drudge, comes as a relief.

Pushy Planets

In the last month of the year, there’s a strong presence of active Mars and constructive Saturn, rulers of work. Close behind them, we have enthusiastic Jupiter, bringing vision, abundance and protection. As the month begins, these three are pushing for progress that expresses in a need to face challenges, to review what we previously bit off, and to do groundwork for what’s coming. Until mid-December, we may feel like we still have a rubber band around our feet.

Then, just as the holidays kick fully into gear, Mercury emerges from post-retrograde shadow, and Mars enters Capricorn, sign of his exaltation. What we’ve been working for finally starts to fall into place.

Keep the Faith, and the Focus

With Mars and Saturn prevailing, results won’t necessarily flow of their own accord. Also, most planetary aspects are tense, with only three harmonious ones all month. We will feel pressed to do or create something and, during the first half of the month, the way won’t always seem clear or easy. Also, the critical zero cardinal degree gets a record number of hits, triggering dynamic waves that move through circumstances and through each of us.

Clarifying Our Work

There are many kinds of work. Strong Saturn and Capricorn influences generally point to a focus on business and finance. Saturn, primary ruler of work, is now in Pisces, sign of intuition, spirituality and compassion, as is Neptune. A Full Moon in Gemini spotlights communications, agreements and self-expression. In a grand mutable cross with the Nodes, this triggers karmic adjustments. And mysterious Neptune goes direct for a last stint in Pisces, sign of closure. Our work may be related to agreements, communication, business, activism, spirituality and karmic situations that flare up before winding down.
