Affirmative astrology for challenging times

Astrological Influences, June 2025: Big Mama Shows Up

By Crystal Pomeroy

A humanoid figure with plant-like features and vines sits cross-legged in a forest, holding a small object, illuminated by golden sunlight filtering through the trees, as subtle astrological influences hint at changes coming in June 2025.

In June, major influences continue in the strange tone we’ve begun seeing as the Saturn-Neptune conjunction grows closer, bringing increasing dissolution of structures, authority figures, and much that once seemed to be stable. The presence of feisty Mars is still strong and in some ways increases. The warrior planet rules the Saturn-Neptune conjunction as well as Venus in Aries, makes several key transits this month, and plays a starring role in the two major lunations. Even indirectly, Mars influences indirectly—at the Aries point triggered by Saturn-Neptune, by the Solstice Sun, and by Jupiter and Mercury as they enter Cancer. This all creates a continuation of the tension, feistiness, and anxiety that we’ve feeling been feeling since last autumn.

With Saturn and Neptune in the picture, this is not just a fleeting kind of conflict. Their conjunction is eroding much that seemed to be dependable, and at the beginning of Aries, this action is on the US Nadir (in the Sibly chart). Describing this conjunction on the IC, Sue Tompkins associates it with a disappointing, irresponsible, dysfunctional, or sick father, and with what society feels about authority at the time of the transit. Tompkins was writing about natal charts, but we can see how this applies to the US nadir as an archetype of security and how Neptune’s transit here is undermining the father archetype of the presidency. In Aries, the dissolution comes on strong.

These energies don’t go away in June. But neither will they continue unchecked. With an approaching sextile with Pluto in Aquarius, theirs isn’t a one-sided dynamic, but is an active interchange with the people. Still, the challenges are tough, to say the least. Cancer season adds to the rub. Sun, expressive Mercury and expansive Jupiter all engage the Aries point, a dynamic trigger that sends a broad circle of energetic ripples, precipitating evolutionary leaps and touching the masses.

At this point, these three planets square the Saturn-Neptune duo. The energy involved has a Mars flavor, and nobody’s apt to back down. However, unlike the masculine influence of Aries, Saturn and Mars, Summer Solstice is a high feminine portal. At the Third Quarter of the year, the Sun reaches her zenith, and the nighttime hours slowly begin their daily increase. Mother energy streams in, supporting new life. In ancient Rome, this mystic portal was called The Day of All Heras, in honor of women who had achieved illumination.

And it isn’t just the Sun that triggers the vital Aries point in its water-sign version of zero Cancer. Perhaps the most important player to enter the sign of softness, compassion and nurturance this month is expansive Jupiter. The planet of abundance has been in detriment in Gemini, where its vision and grandiosity get lost in gossip, argument and endless chatter. In Cancer’s compassionate waters, Jupiter finds exaltation; it can relax and spill its generous, protective mantle over whoever needs it. In square to Saturn-Neptune, this large wave of Cancer energy imbues the conjunction with sensitivity, empathy and concern for living things. A few months ago, we predicted that colleges and courts (Jupiter) could be a balancing influence for the encroachment of toxic patriarchy. June becomes pivotal for such institutions.

Mars wants to get things done, Saturn imposes structure, Neptune creates a mythos. As for Cancer, she wants to care for things. This collective experience underscores the friction between…

Collective experience, priceless.
