The March 29 lunation, the last of six Eclipses on the Aries-Libra axis, supports us to reconnect with our courage and disengage from patterns that sabotage our progress, patterns both within or around us. Not only are we irradiated by Aries´ sunbeams, but flooded on a deep and massive level with Aries-flavored waves from the cosmic ocean.
Aries, ruled by Mars, is a self-sufficient hero who´s ready to go. He won´t hang around waiting for people or situations to upgrade their confidence, rhythm, or speed, but will move ahead, waving gleefully out the window as he passes them up.
Neptune rules the full spectrum of the fantastical. According to Rex E. Bills, in The Rulership Book, this includes everything from divinity, angels, compassion, and alchemy to mass delusion, neurotics, weakness, and morons. As Neptune leaves Pisces, our inner mythos “comes out of the dark and into the light”, to quote Maya Del Mar’s article about this sign. We emerge from the mystique of suppression and collective hypnosis, to a new level of clarity and confidence.
For the last 14 years, diplomacy has seemed more important than haste, manifestation has looked rosy and prayers, gentle. We’re done sitting on the mutable fence. It´s time to fire up our dreams, to pray with energy, to fight for our miracles. To translate a Mexican saying, “Pray like everything depends on God and move like everything depends on you.” Neptune is spirituality and this transit can lead to freedom from spiritual oppression and onto a path of self-mastery.
As the month begins, there’s a giddiness in the air. Aries, ruled by Mars the warrior, speeds us up. Nor are the red planet´s plans just business as usual. He’s heading towards a portal of testing: Mars’ third and last opposition to ominous Pluto, which will make a T-square with April’s New Moon in Taurus and be exact on Saturday, April 26.
Bold Pluto in Aquarius is on a mission to free us from constrictions, labels, and hierarchies. As Mars opposes Pluto, he challenges us to find congruence between potential and action, to reclaim the reins of our own direction. The experience is individual, but it’s not just our own. Pluto in Aquarius brings power through shared ideals, as in a human family.
On one level, the Mars role in this aspect is playing out as Trump vs. the people. This is the last of three oppositions that started during the presidential election last November. Pluto took the next hit from retrograde Mars on January 2, four days before the fourth anniversary of the assault on the Capitol by MAGA supporters whose mayhem led to the deaths of five policemen. The rioters were later convicted. This is significant as in late January 2025, Trump ordered for the release of those 1,500 rioters, some of whom had violent criminal records. Talk about toxic Mars! As the red planet, now direct, approaches a third and final hit on Pluto, Trump suggests paying taxpayer money as restitution to the rioters for lost wages and opportunities.
Pluto won’t back down, and this game is apt to get more intense before it’s over. But it’s important to remember that along with Neptune, Pluto rules alchemy, the gold produced from processes of deep transformation.
Other transits of April include the persistent presence of love-goddess Venus, who rules both of April’s major lunations. Aspects involving Saturn, Uranus, and Chiron support healing, building, and connection. Such influences walk us through this month in the light, with awareness of the compassion and kindness that we carry. They support us to act strongly, but from a place that transcends the will to compete or to harm. We’re reconnected to that power within that many of us have developed in years of spiritual practice, a place of peace and compassion that we can continue to deepen. Hyper Aries is up to the challenge, and will fill us with energy to focus on both inner and outer priorities.
The first half of the month is great for getting our spiritual bearings, strengthening positive connections, and putting long-term improvements in motion. It starts with a lovely conjunction from Venus, lady of love and values, to North Node. Their placement in Pisces that is highly fortunate for both. The combination supports our compassion quotient, ignites our heart energy, and blesses our actions, most especially our initiatives to help others and connect with those who resonate with our current direction. We can apply this energy in spiritual practice, and by reaching out to selected others, because one of Spring´s most important gifts is to release obsolete influences and reencounter our soul family. This conjunction, which also expands compassion and fuels forgiveness, perfects on Thursday, April 3. However, it’s in the chart for the Aries Eclipse of March 29 and with both Node and Venus dancing back and forward, they’re in flirting range all month.
We also encounter some strategic and practical advantages. Constructive Saturn sextiles daring Uranus, bringing opportunities to fortify new avenues of abundance. Like the Venus-North Node conjunction above, this sextile is in the chart for the March 29 Aries Eclipse and remains in orb throughout the month of April. However, it perfects on Thursday April 4. And Mars, the raging rock star of April’s show, harmonizes with both Saturn and Uranus on this same day! The entire first week of April and the weekend starting April 4 is great for strategic action along innovative lines that—with Mercury retrograde—we’ve set in motion sometime previously
Yes, opportunities in the midst of chaos.
