Astrological Influences September 2024: Grounding Our Cosmic Path

So far, 2024 has brought an excitement, but its promise may not have felt easy to ground. The January entrance of Pluto, planet of evolution, in Aquarius, sign of freedom, triggered us to go all out on our own authentic path. Spring’s Eclipses in Aries and Libra, in which Pluto played a key role, opened our identity and relationships to this revolutionary energy. We’ve had new vistas, conviction and courage, and in some areas, new beginnings. It’s been exciting. But, like all evolutionary switch-ups, the promise seems sweeter than the early returns.

September gives us great tools to weave more of this cosmic energy into our own lives and progress. They include a New Moon in worker sign Virgo, a Full Moon Eclipse that facilitates release, Pluto’s retrograde into the final degrees of Capricorn, an extremely rare minor grand trine of outer planets that anchors Pluto in harmonies to rebel Uranus and mystical Neptune, and bundles of transits from personal planets to a special aspect that we will refer to as the “cosmic minor grand trine.”

This cosmic configuration consists of a trine from Uranus to Pluto with Neptune at the midpoint in sextile to both. It isn’t exact, but it is in close orb as the month begins and it flavors both of September’s major lunations, particularly the Lunar Eclipse of Tuesday, September 17.

With restless Uranus and alchemical Pluto in earth signs, we can more easily ground our evolutionary urge. Collectively, we can expect new forms of art, innovative financial structures, and profitable, creative leaps related to AI and the web. On an individual level, daring moves in our own unique direction and expression can lead to sudden growth.

On Sunday, September 1, Uranus goes retrograde, giving us a chance to integrate the shifts of the last five months and to connect with our inner freedom-fighter. We can retrieve the projections we had been placing on popular figures (such as politicians who have been shaken off their pedestals), and strive to act in congruence with our own inner visionary. This focus can influence the collective and support the emergence of more congruous leaders on the world stage.

Just two days after the cosmic minor grand trine, Pluto backs into Capricorn, where he’ll be digging up the dirt until late November. This will be his last incursion into the sign of the mountain goat for the next 250 years. We get to revisit the path of mastery we were unwillingly dragged on as Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008.

This is a big deal, since whatever part of our psyche and affairs he sneaks through, Mr. Intense does a total rehaul. It’s worth provoking a pause to review and journal about the changes that were seeded in our lives that year, and their influence on our experience of power. Look to the houses, angles and planets related to Capricorn in your natal chart. After this review, we can give thanks for the ordeals that have led to change -to paraphrase astrologer Christopher Renstrom-, and in Pluto’s courageous spirit, focus on using the next 3 months to leave our indelible mark in those areas.

Returning to September’s minor grand trine, Uranus brings an energy of release that will make it easier to let of pressure and find creative and lucrative outlets.
