The stars of June offer a chance to increase our intuitive intelligence, expand our heart energy, close cycles, finish work and reaffirm our preferred beliefs and identity.
As the Sun approaches Solstice, the zenith of its yearly trek through the sky, June is a month of awareness. With a strong Gemini line-up, our minds and communications will be buzzing, yet the rationality usually associated with the sign of the twins is diffused by a strong wave of Cancer, leaking some fog into our dry reason and simultaneously sharpening our intuition.
These lunar overtones will be accented by three key astrological configurations: first, by two Eclipses, second, by intense aspects to Neptune, planet of mediums, and third, by Neptune’s turn to retrograde, which initiates his annual five-month incursion into the deepest waters of subtle realms. Retrogrades in general facilitate inner work, and we’ll have a peak total of seven retrogrades this month.
This month, the merging starts from day one, as Gemini’s ruler Mercury enters pre-retrograde shadow. Mercury also rules the Gemini alignment of Sun, Venus and most importantly, North Node. The latter only visits each sign every 18 years, indicating our dharma, positive mission, and areas of opportunity. In Gemini, this is related to communication, analysis, connection, promotion, commerce, and sharing of information. Does this all sound cheery and clear?
Thing is that this month, Mercury’s shadow and retrograde create an aura of mystery that is increased by its presence in Cancer, sign of feelings. This places an emotional cast over our thoughts and interactions, doing little for our objectivity. With Cancer, ruled by the Moon, connected to the physical body and security, we will be feeling attached to our personal way of thinking, perceiving, and living the quarantine. There’s an instinctive retreat from rational consensus.
