A “Void Moon” or “Void of Course Moon” (or “VOC moon” for short) makes no significant aspects until it enters the next sign. Its void period is thought to be a poor time for starting new projects or making concerted effort toward existing plans.
According to William Lilly, the Moon in Cancer (Moon’s rulership), Taurus (Moon’s exaltation), Sagittarius and Pisces (signs ruled by Jupiter, the Great Benefic) “performeth somewhat.” Lee Lehmann reports that she has tested this, and “you can take it to the bank.” Another way of putting how this works in an astrological forecast is that, when an action is taken during the void period in one of these signs, you get “unanswered success.” That is, the lack of planetary action prevents your action from being denied.
Monday, February 1
The month and week get off to an introspective start, with Moon in Scorpio, sign of secrets, harmonizing with ruler Pluto and also Mercury in shadow retrograde, both in Capricorn.
Make time to go within, either on your own or with the help of a therapist, healer or coach. Particularly, review how your relationship with power, goals and hierarchies, has evolved since December 17, when the messenger planet entered pre-retrograde shadow.
The Divine knows how I can walk my path of power and is guiding me to do this through infinite channels now.
Tuesday, February 2
As the day breaks, yesterday’s influences continue, favoring inner work over outer initiatives this early morning, with Moon VOC in Scorpio. At 7:50 am (10:50 ET), Moon enters fiery Sagittarius, propitious for study and self-improvement, as well as an Imbolc celebration in nature or with a group.
Also known as Brigid’s Day, this portal marks the return of the Sun, the first visible response of earth to its light, and the goddess’ return to activity since she gave birth at Winter Solstice.
In Mexico, the Virgen de la Candelaria (Candlemas) is celebrated on this day, and I have heard reports from campesinos who claim she is still seen in the countryside.
Light a yellow candle, review your New Year’s goals and bless their progress.
The goddess within is up and about, attending my new creations now.
Wednesday, February 3
A philosophical spirit prevails, with a harmony from Mercury to healer Chiron combined with Moon in Sagittarius and Sun in Aquarius. However, a pre-dawn harmony from dynamic Mars to powerful Pluto favors penetrating action; and both luminaries contact Saturn, spotlighting discipline and tangible results.
The combination also favors treatments like tissue or tooth removal.
Move forward to close cycles or finish something begun before Mercury entered pre-retrograde shadow on December 17.
Take some time off this evening, as the stars favor freedom and just plain fun.
I enjoy the freedom of acting on my independent vision, here and now.
Thursday, February 4
Thursday is ruled by Jupiter, planet of joy and generosity that also rules the VOC Moon in Sagittarius.
Enjoy a brunch or school reunion, take or give a class or workshop, cultivate and express gratitude, promote ideas, services or wares, or do anything that requires a touch of charisma or just plain luck.
At 4:44 pm (7:44 ET), the tone shifts to serious as Moon enters executive Capricorn. Organize your goals, space or papers and tie up loose ends in business and work endeavors.
I am made in the image and likeness of divine awareness, and I enjoy expressing it here and now.
Friday, February 5
Creative forces are boiling, as Venus joins with Pluto, and Moon with both of them. Do something passionate to foment your ideals. If you have a harmonious honey, devour him or her. These energies favor forgiveness, healing of female issues, divorce or other dissolution of bonds. Clean out the wardrobe, give away obsolete belongings, money and love, in preparation for tomorrow’s freeing transits.
Whatever you do, avoid power games and seedy situations or people.
I invoke the energies of release to free from resentments and obsolete attachments, here and now.
Saturday, February 6
Thanks to a conjunction from Moon in Capricorn to Mercury the messenger, this morning can be a productive time. Organize papers and follow up on pending business.
At 7:54 am (10:54 ET), Moon goes VOC, and doesn’t enter Aquarius until late this evening. Although the results of actions and purchases are uncertain for the rest of the day, transits accent our creative genius. Get those ideas into writing and take a break to visit a science or art museum or some other cutting-edge exhibit or place.
I am made in the image and likeness of divine creativity, and I unleash my genius now.
Sunday, February 7
Moon in Aquarius squares Mars early this morning: act on behalf of your favorite cause but avoid unnecessary arguments, or if they’re inevitable, avoid getting worked up.
The best way to direct the tension we’ll be feeling is through light exercise, such as yoga, qi gong, tai chi, or a favorite routine, but without too much weight or pressure.
At 7:01 am (10:01 ET), anxiety morphs into passion, which can be directed in a close encounter of the sensual kind or taking daring action on a creative project to channel the energies of Venus the beautifier, as she sextiles Mars the mover.
Save group socializing for the afternoon.
I love myself, so I care for my wellness and take time for joy, here and now.
Monday, February 8
New Moon in Aquarius jump-starts our intentions in social life, altruism, technology and ideals. Since she goes VOC on her conjunction with Sun, the portal is best used from around 6:00 am (9:00 ET) until it’s exact at 6:39 am (9:39 ET).
It’s a moment worth rising for, particularly in the light of the Sabian symbol:
WHITE DOVE OVERHEAD DESCENDS, BEARING A MESSAGE. The blessing of every effort by the Holy Ghost of revealed significance. Exaltation of all individual efforts.
Last night’s dreams are apt to carry special light and guidance for our New Moon intentions. Give them additional power by writing them down.
With Mercury still in post-retrograde shadow, focus on things seeded before December 17.
Today’s portal also hails the Chinese New Year of the Red Fire Monkey, whose influence accentuates intelligence, problem-solving and a spirit of adventure. (See the February General Influences section for further tips.)
Tuesday, February 9
This is a hyper-sensitive day. Mars in deep Scorpio trines Chiron. Handled mindfully, the connection can help us dig things up for healing. If you have some lab studies or x-rays pending, get them today. Go to therapy, write down your feelings or fight for an endangered species, at-risk group, or ecosystem.
Throw away old photos or other objects that attach you to the past.
Such measures will renew you in preparation for the highly intuitive influence of Moon as she joins Neptune in psychic Pisces this afternoon. Get a reading, consult an oracle and contact your angels or spirit guides.
I release my hold on people and situations, and relax in the flow of my highest good, here and now.
Wednesday, February 10
A pre-dawn trine from Venus to Jupiter eases affairs of the heart and purse. We might make a good sale, collect a payment or heal a relationship.
Moon in sensitive Pisces contacts active Mars, creative Venus and expansive Jupiter, making for a dynamic combination of creativity and audacity.
Use it to push through writer’s or artist’s blocks and get the word out about your works and ideas.
I release my concern with perfection and move in any way to share my gifts now.
Thursday, February 11
Moon enters Aries early this morning, fusing with the benevolence of Thursday’s ruler, Jupiter, to empower our actions. In view of the angelic vibration of number 11, initiatives centered in kindness will also contributed to improving humanity’s frequency. Send a Valentine’s greeting to someone who doesn’t expect it or in some other way surprise someone who can use a lift.
I organize myself for kindness and the planet’s aura is harmonized and strengthened now.
Friday, February 12
The compassionate resonance of Moon in Pisces brings out the more universal inclinations of a wonderful trine from Venus to Uranus.
This combination can unleash our creative genius, help us release obsolete ties, open up to new ones, and generate powerful vibrations of unconditional love through our actions and spiritual practice.
Divine love pours though my heart and radiates in my mind and actions now.
Saturday, February 13
Moon exalted in Taurus provides a comfortable background, but resist the temptation to hang out and drink beer, because the transits favor socializing, publishing, promoting, and any audacious initiative to ground our goals.
The transits include Mercury’s entrance into light-hearted Aquarius and a wonderful sextile from Mars, planet of action, to Jupiter, god of fortune and transmission, for whom the sky’s the limit and anything goes.
Spend quality time with people you really care about, push through on a cause or blow retentiveness to the wind as you move boldly ahead to promote your cause or project.
The devas of success open doors for me and I follow my intuition to walk through them now.
Sunday, February 14
Taurus Moon radiates sensuality and opulence, and the morning is the best time to share them with others. Depending on your relationship status and interest, serve your honey brunch in bed, or share a picnic in the woods with friends or a romantic prospect.
Afternoon influences are somewhat tense, propitious for independent creative work, cleaning your space or going on a vigorous walk.
I naturally resonate with good, so I easily attract abundance, here and now.
Monday, February 15
Second Quarter Moon in Taurus reminds us to focus on projects that are or have been growing but need an extra push.
The Sabian symbol:
A WITHERED OLD SQUAW, SMILING BRIGHTLY, SELLS TRINKETS. Dignified offering of fruits to exuberant youth. Patient understanding of destiny or else meddlesomeness.
On the one hand, the symbol is rather tragic, yet it reminds us to use what we have on hand rather than waiting, until withered, for the perfect moment or expression.
Also, Mercury finally emerges from its shadow period, so we can move ahead unencumbered.
The Universe wants me to share my creations, and it supports me and moves me to do it, through innumerable channels now.
Tuesday, February 16
The Mercurial vibration of today’s numerological ruler, number 7, accents the influence of the Gemini Moon, giving the green light on communications with the help of ruler Mercury, now fully direct. Make pending phone calls, write messages or copy, launch a sales campaign.
Our connectedness is triggered, yet the aspects are mainly tense, helping us push through our inner inertia and favoring independent work over interactions with others.
I enjoy using my words to improve my world and do so mindfully, here and now.
Wednesday, February 17
The most productive part of this day is the beginning, when the success resonance of today’s ruler, number 8, combines with the communicative alacrity of Gemini Moon, giving special power to our minds, promotions and communications.
At 8:37 am (11:37 ET), Moon goes VOC. It’s a great time to do crossword puzzles or affirmations, or read a good book or article. At 11:24 am (14:24 ET), Moon enters Cancer, with aspects that favor gentle expressions of affection.
Radiating love to all, I pause to attend my needs and those of others now.
Thursday, February 18
Moon in sensitive Cancer makes an early trine to psychic Neptune in the sign of its rule, and then combines with the placement of Sun in the final, so-called anaretic degree of Aquarius, to unleash waves of intuition. Direct them individually in business, creative or healing concerns, as a chain of tense aspects to taskmaster Saturn, intense Pluto, and rebellious Uranus is good for getting perspective, but not conducive to harmonious interaction with others.
The starwaves lighten up, although intuition remains high, after 9:34 pm (12:34 am ET), when Sun enters Pisces.
I believe in my intuition, and I allow myself to follow it, here and now.
Friday, February 19
This is a sweet, dreamy beginning to the weekend, as Sun entered sensitive Pisces last night, and Moon in tender Cancer harmonized with generous Jupiter in the wee hours.
Intuition offers clear guidance for our actions, after Moon goes VOC on a trine to Mars at 6:36 am (9:36 ET).
Pause to heed hunches, consult the I Ching or a favored oracle, spend some time to clarify what you’re visualizing, and be sure you act on the signs that arise.
After Moon enters Leo at 6:17 pm (9:17 ET), we can relax into the romantic and artistic side of the Pisces-Leo combination.
I pause to listen to subtle wisdom, and my day becomes an act of magic as I move on it now.
Saturday, February 20
Moon in passionate Leo connects with friendly Venus and sparky Mercury in sociable Aquarius as well as romantic Neptune, a great combination for connecting with spiritual family and enjoying creativity.
Avoid unnecessary arguments.
I am blessed with loving and spiritually conscious friends, and I give thanks for them now.
Sunday, February 21
The resonance of today’s number, 3, intensifies the expressive inclinations of Moon in Leo. Take in a play or participate in a show, gospel service, shamanic drumming or some other mystical-musical production.
A lunar opposition to Mercury in Aquarius accentuates creativity and even genius, although in fixed signs it can also trigger stubbornness. Be mindful of dogmatic stances and avoid unnecessary arguments.
The Master Creator of all that is creates beauty and joy for me, through me and as me, here and now.
Monday, February 22
The Full Moon in Virgo gives us a chance to ground Pisces Sun’s intuitive abilities and, considering her aspects, receive cosmic guidance and assistance for release. In Luna’s chart, Sun conjuncts Neptune, accenting the psychic Piscean quality of this portal. Sun and Moon form a T-square with Mars, introducing an element of restlessness and desire to act that, with this “planet of push” in penetrating Scorpio, is apt to be rather intense. Mars’ ruler, Pluto, planet of endings, trines Jupiter, ruler of release. Additionally, today’s date number 22 is a master number, of far-reaching influence.
This combination is not so apt for building or harmonious connection with others, but its magic is powerful, particular for dissolving blocks and obsolete attachments or habits that stand between us and the manifestation of our dreams, whether these be of a spiritual, creative or professional nature.
Visit a trusted psychic, consult an oracle, angels or your spirit guides. Call on Archangel Zadquiel, the ghostbuster angels, Divine Surgeon, or related freeing Spirits and ask for assistance.
The Sabian symbol for 4 degrees of Pisces says:
NEGRO [sic] CHILD PLAYS WITH BOYS UNAWARE OF RACE LINE. Underlying fellowship of all life beneath social creed… Rising above contrasts.
The symbol captures the spirit of the Pisces Sun, “underlying fellowship of all life”, while its unassuming daily scene resonates with the Virgo Moon.
It points to practical recovery of the inner child’s natural connection to others.
I am determined to be free of blocks to my good, and this clarity connects me with the guidance and assistance to achieve it, here and now.
Tuesday, February 23
The morning energies continue to favor yesterday’s themes of intuitive detection of blocks and their healing, while the afternoon favors problem-solving, generosity and connection with constructive colleagues.
Leave potential aggressive encounters for another day, and use this evening’s conjunction of Moon with Jupiter in practical Virgo to organize and work for success.
The Same Mind that knows how to unblock my good is guiding me and helping me do this through infinite channels now.
Wednesday, February 24
If you have something important to do this morning, get it done very early, as Moon in practical Virgo sextiles Mars in penetrating Scorpio at 6:22 am (9:22 ET). It then goes VOC for the rest of the day, which will favor relaxed inner healing, weeding our gardens, throwing away papers and playing chess, scrabble or another game that stimulates analytical abilities.
At 2:41 pm (5:41 ET), Moon enters Libra. Beautify your space, do PR, negotiate and share supper by candlelight.
I resonate with beauty, and its energy heals and prospers me, here and now.
Thursday, February 25
We can ground our creative ideas, promotions and all communications today, and make headway with PR, thanks to a harmony from Mercury the messenger to constructive Saturn, as well as contacts from Moon in Libra, sign of beauty and love, productive Sun, imaginative Neptune, and Moon’s own ruler, Venus.
In the aftermath of Monday’s Virgo Full Moon, try tying up what you started during the waxing moon cycle (February 8–21), and eliminating any distractions to the achievement of your intentions and goals.
The Master Creator finishes everything she begins for me and through me now.
Friday, February 26
Moon is VOC in Libra all day. Plan for a three-day weekend—or at least take time to take it easy and socialize or putter around the house. Leave important actions and purchases for another day, like tomorrow, Sunday night or Monday.
An evening harmony from Mercury in smart Aquarius to ruler Uranus in Aries won’t resolve the VOC, but it will make for fun conversations and table games.
I give things the light touch, knowing that Spirit continues to act in every way that’s necessary now and always.
Saturday, February 27
If you have someone to share it with, Moon in Scorpio makes this a good day for a close encounter of the Tantra kind. As Moon moves to trine Sun and Neptune, both in psychic Pisces, it also favors consulting an oracle, dream work, contacting angels, and forgiveness. If you need to get to the bottom of something, now is a good time to research, but avoid the pull of paranoia that Scorpio can sometimes exert.
A contact from Mercury the messenger, to expansive Jupiter, mingles nicely with Scorpio’s propensity for depth; study and thinking can be freeing experiences.
Deep within, I already know everything I need to, and as I ponder this wisdom, it comes to light now.
Sunday February 28
Today is busy, but not all the movement is visible to the senses.
Sun makes its yearly conjunction with Neptune, both in Pisces. Our humanitarian, spiritual and creative endeavors can precipitate peak experiences.
The Sabian symbol for this encounter is:
THE AVIATOR SAILS ACROSS THE SKY, MASTER OF HIGHER REALMS. Transcendence of normal problems, gaining of celestial responsibilities, consummation of highest ideals. Coronation.
The symbol speaks to the victory we can find as we honor our spiritual practice and develop a higher perspective in a trying situation.
Moon in passionate Scorpio indicates that our feelings will be intense and—with challenging contacts to Venus, planet of relating, Uranus the liberator and Mercury the communicator—not particularly harmonious.
However, we can get insight on ourselves and nuances of situations, and with them find forgiveness or another type of inner freedom.
Without attachment, without involvement, without labeling anyone involved, I send loving thoughts to all now.
Monday, February 29
Someone forgot to tell the Moon that the weekend is over, and this morning she’s still hanging around in Scorpio, sign of deep feelings and inner change.
Not only that, she has the nerve to join co-ruler, Mars, before going VOC at 11:55 am (2:55 ET). And since Monday is related to the Moon, these lunar aspects are central to the day’s tone, which is not so productive, but rather passionate and deep, until Moon enters Sagittarius at 3:56 pm (6:56 ET).
Take a long, slow lunch, make love with a harmonious partner, clean the refrigerator, and use cleansing mantras or affirmations.
The tone shifts this afternoon, when Venus, planet of love, joins Saturn the builder in Sagittarius, blending nicely with the Moon. Work on or organize a presentation to make your product or work more salable.
At rest and while active, I intend to heal, so every pause and movement is an act of wellness now.
