Astrology of 2014 - Jupiter in Leo, Saturn in Scorpio

“Destiny calls to each of us. There is a world behind a world where we all are connected, all part of a great and moving plan.” ~ Shakespeare, “A Winter’s Tale”

Jupiter and Saturn: New Beginnings

In July the two social planets, Jupiter and Saturn, who orbit between the inner and outer planets work, together to turn the Wheel of Fortune. On July 16 Jupiter enters Leo to stay until 11 August 2015 for the first time since 2002, starting a new 12-year cycle. Five days later on July 21Saturn turns direct in Scorpio. Jupiter and Saturn form a pair of opposites, defined as the principles of expansion and contraction, faith and fear, enthusiasm and inhibition. When these two planets are supporting each other, Saturn will provide structure and shape to the vision and faith of Jupiter. Without Saturn, Jupiter would remain ungrounded and unrealistic, unable to manifest itself in the world. Without Jupiter, there would be no purpose or meaning to the structures created by Saturn. Jupiter is the entrepreneur with the vision, and Saturn is the ability to turn the vision into reality. We need both. In esoteric astrology, the Mysteries were presided over by Jupiter and Saturn as the Guardians.

Jupiter, Planet of Love and Wisdom

In the birth chart, Jupiter is the key to spiritual purpose. His House placement reveals the way to the fusion of information into wisdom. Along with the North Node of Fate, Jupiter points to our life purpose. Key words for Jupiter are: good judgment, expansion, religion, philosophy, good fortune, rewards. Jupiter is a Yang planet, so in Leo, a fiery Yang sign, overdoing, over optimism or pouring petrol on flames are the shadow manifestations. As is religious fanaticism, terrorism and black-and-white “I am right and you are wrong” thinking.

Since April and through the summer solstice we’ve been going through a major untangling from the tendrils of our past, to begin to reclaim our supporting soul aspects. The New Moon in Cancer, the Full Moon in Capricorn and Jupiter’s entry into Leo have all the resonance of renewal. Aren’t you beginning to notice your creative engines refuelling and recharging after six months of inner work through the cascade of retrogrades?

From mid-July, as Jupiter enters fiery Fixed sign Leo and Saturn turns forward, we will have so much to restructure in support of our newfound capacities that the next six months between the Summer and Winter Solstice will buzz. Ideas, projects, dreams and visions we left by the wayside will tug at your heartstrings again. New connections and opportunities will appear out of nowhere that in reality we’ve been creating from the deep structure causative level since 2011 through the tsunamis of change.

The way to make headway out of all the void slumps is to deliberately amplify the soul qualities of Jupiter in Leo by being playful, childlike, pure and creative. Then the mastery of our newfound flow will allow us to accept and inhabit the role of teacher, mentor, coach and model. We are all teachers now. The phrase “you learn what you teach” has special resonance in this yearlong transit—the very opposite of “teach what you know.”

As curiosity, compassion and understanding spread through more and more of the population, others will seek you out—perhaps for a conversation, an exchange, informal or formal teachings, seeing you as an embodiment of purpose and possibility whom they can mirror and emulate in their own template.

The Carapace and the Pyramid

During this summer of grace, the harmonious water trine between Saturn and Chiron will form and reform the sacred geometry of a series of Grand Water Trines as Mercury, the Sun and Venus follow each other through Cancer. Wherever 16 degrees of Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio fall in your chart is your Merkaba, your soul vehicle and chariot, your three-sided pyramid of healing, recharging and ensouling.

Sun Grand Trine

This delicate work of soothing ragged edges and old wounds is incubated and protected in the safety of Saturn’s carapace, as if in an alchemical vessel of transformation. It is true medial work to absorb, integrate and synthesise the growth you’ve developed like a rich patina during the Cardinal Crosses, the May eclipses and the Solstice.

Logos and Gnosis

As Jupiter archetype of wisdom, the High Priest or the Hierophant trines Uranus, higher intelligence, in September. Change can be created that’s authentic, meaningful and liberating.

Jupiter trine Uranus

The Chandra Symbol for Jupiter trine Uranus (LEO 15) tells us:

“A woman with many different colored rings on her fingers. To be quintessentially yourself in so many different directions is to be big, impressive, and very dramatic. Your individuality is blessed with innate gifts and treasures unlimited, an embarrassment of riches. The outward temptation is to play this up and use it up. The inward path is to develop it into ripe and mature full-on individual genius. However, it takes an advanced soul to be able to move steadily with such intoxicating qualities. And it takes the utmost in sincerity, simplicity, and core presence to just be there while having loads of outstanding, amazing attributes to show and share and give forth freely, with such royal stature and destiny.

This when the synthesis of our experiences through July and August may bring together Logos and Gnosis.Logos is objective knowledge learned through books or teachers outside yourself, whereas Gnosis is soul knowledge, Holy Wisdom, that which is revealed to be spiritually true. To become a true choice-maker we each have to know what is meaningful to us at our core, in our bones, in our soul.

“You and I are essentially infinite choice-makers. In every moment of our existence, we are in that field of all possibilities where we have access to an infinity of choices.” ~ Deepak Chopra

Dear Lorna:

What would the movements of Jupiter and Saturn affect me who was born on February 9, 1949 (morning) in Bangkok, Thailand?
Thank you very much.
