After all the hyped up, sensationalized predictions about the widely anticipated 2012, the door to 2013 stands ajar. It is the very first year of the Midpoint Gateway between the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 and the completion of the shift to global living in 2037.
As I wrote last month, we have each passed through Nine Gates of Initiation in 2012 which have demanded every ounce of courage we had. One thing is blindingly clear, no matter what your beliefs may be, that as a global community we have reached the nadir of duality and separation and the move towards unity consciousness is the only option open to us.
The fight to the death between those who seek to control us and those who demand freedom is intensifying. The global scandals, corruption and theft of liberty, work, income and healthcare have involved institutions many trusted implicitly: banks, governments, journalism, the church, and the military. Under Lord of Karma Saturn in Scorpio’s watchful eye, since October 5 the rocks have been lifted and the insects have crawled out into the blinding light of day.
As the Law of Balance states “for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction”. This state of chaos, confusion, disbelief and fear in reaction to 2012’s revelations is paradoxically having widespread positive repercussions. The reason we know about everything (well nearly everything) that happens immediately is the Internet and social media via mobile phones. These are our weapons of mass information ranged against the media’s tools of mass disinformation. We see over and over again that we’re all the same: whatever our color or nationality, we need food, shelter, warmth, work and love. We are learning from each other how to set up movements, to publicly reject lies, distortions and hypocrisy and to face down the bullies.
2013 won’t usher in the 10,000 years of peace, but it will open the door wider to compassion, community and hope. As we understand that the lessons of the 60s were only half learned, we’ll choose differently.
2013 Themes
Reading the time by the Mythic Clock of esoteric astrology, the themes and threads of 2013 are metaphorically and energetically changing color to purples, violet, greens and rose pinks away from the sticky grays and browns of the last years.
The Emergence or the Quickening
This is the sense that 3D time is speeding up whilst simultaneously slowing down, of floating free, untethered from so much concrete reality in the time/space continuum. This acceleration is marked by the increasing intensity of global events and by the rising temperature of nearly every planet in our solar system; while here on Earth, time seems to be speeding up, and chaos mounting, as phenomenal shifts occur in our physical and perceptual realities with increasing rapidity.
We are living in a period of tremendous change, where humanity’s “truths” are shifting at an exponential rate, as today’s more-advanced technologies and awareness are working to reveal the new “truths” of tomorrow. And just as the perspectives of those who were born 50 or 100 years ago have had to shift to allow for our present version of reality, so too, are we required to expand our perspectives of what is possible.
A divided perspective of existence has every human living for themselves, operating by their own Personal Will in an attempt to find inner peace by shaping the outer world according to their own likes and dislikes. However what so many people are realizing today is that the peace we seek cannot be found by creating change in the world outside oneself, for true peace can only be found within.
You can see the truth of this when you consider that all around the world there are nearly 7 billion people who are trying to effect change in the world outside themselves, in order to make others, and the world, match their vision of what is “right”, so that they can then find peace inside. However, when you realize that there are 7 billion people, with 7 billion different visions of what the world should look like; then you see that that peace you seek can never be attained by trying to shape the physical world according to dualistic Ideals of “right” and “wrong”; as conflicting views will always result in the paradoxical need to “fight for peace.”
The only way to find everlasting peace, is to learn to be at peace with the way things are. And it is this holistic perspective that “all is perfect as it is” that is taught in the ancient practices of Buddhism, Taoism and yoga, as well as certain native spiritual traditions; and which is echoed in the words of the Taoist master Lao Tsu who says in the Tao Te Ching: “true perfection seems imperfect, but is perfectly itself.”
This is why there were “generation gaps” in the time before 1999, because up to that date our understanding shifted at a slower rate. When a new thought was introduced to the world it would take a longer period of time for our consciousness to assimilate that concept.
For example, when the perspective that women are equal to men arose in the Western world, it took roughly 20 years for that seed of an idea to take root. However, that all changed at the same time as the global proliferation of the internet: human consciousness then began to expand at an accelerated rate as any new idea or concept that was created or realized could be immediately learned by anyone around the world, regardless of how young or old they were.
And because our perspective of the world was accelerating at a speed relative to the phenomenal global growth of the internet, many people around that time experienced a sensation of “quickening” . And though this quickening is perceived by many as a speeding up of time, still others believe that it isn’t time that is speeding up, but rather that it is the amount of change and information that we are able to process in that time that is accelerating.
Out of this intensification of energy downloads in 2013 we’ll see and feel the slow re-orientation to Goodwill, Unity Consciousness and Metaphysics. Science will start to corroborate what mystics have been saying for millennia. Individual and group powers of magnetizing will increase, eventually leading to free, clean energy and technological “magic”. The key words for 2013 are: feeling, intuiting, community and goodwill.
The Hopi poem expresses this far better than I can:
THIS IS THE HOUR…
You have been telling people that this is the eleventh hour. Now you must go back and tell people, this is the hour!
And there are things to be considered Where are you living?
what are you doing?
what are your relationships?are you in right relation? Where is your water?
Know your garden
It is time to speak your truth Create your communitybe good to yourself
and not look outside for a leader
This could be a great time!
There is a river flowing very fast
It is so great and fast that that there are those who will be afraid They will hold on to the shoreThey will feel as if they are being torn apart and they will suffer greatly
Know that the river has its destination. The Elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open
and our heads above the water.
See who is in there with you and celebrate
Gather yourselves. Banish the word ‘struggle’ from your vocabulary
All that we do now must be done in sacred manner and celebration
At this time, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves
For the moment we do our spiritual growth comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over.
We are the ones that we have been waiting for.
~The Elders, Oraibi, Hopi Nation.
2013, the Astrology
This is a year when we’ll be replenished by the Water element making the transition from logic to feeling based living. By June, no fewer than five outer planets will be in Water signs:
- Saturn and the North Node of Fate in Scorpio (Fixed Water)—calm waters run deep
- Neptune and Chiron in Pisces (Mutable Water)—turbulent or calm or transcendent or deluded
- Jupiter in Cancer (Cardinal Water)—longing for home, roots and security
- All 3 of Mercury’s retrogrades take place entirely within Water signs.
This energy is mirrored in Chinese astrology with the Year of the Yin Water Snake, last experienced in 1953. This snake is seen as possessing occult, intuitive powers and the ability to merge with its surroundings. The flood of Water gives 2013 a number of characteristics. On a physical level, it points to events literally involving water such as high tides and extreme flooding. Scientific exploration under the sea will add to our knowledge base. Politically, emphasis will shift away from the Middle East to the South China seas and its underwater resources. At a personal level, the surfeit of Water can make you drown in feelings. Your emotional intelligence will be tested over and over. You’ll be shown that you are constantly floating in a tide of change and flux and you need to learn to swim. This is the year when you learn how to surf the tsunami of change.
The Outer Planets form New Patterns
All the big hitters, the slow-moving outer planets, are already in the signs they will occupy for the whole of 2013, which is allowing us to acclimatize to the new energy field. Pluto/Neptune/Uranus/Chiron and Saturn shape the zeitgeist so their new gentler connections tell us something about what to expect. The harshness, jarring and dislocating events of 2010/2011/2012 were set in motion by the outer planets moving into new signs making stressful angles. There is a positive flow between Saturn, Neptune and Chiron through 2013 as well as from Jupiter to Saturn during the summer months.
The chart shows only the slow moving outer planets, the ones weaving the leitmotifs of 2013.
Notice and welcome the predominance of blue flowing aspects between the planets and particularly the Grand Water Trine between Saturn /Neptune /Chiron /Jupiter.
March 2013, Saturn in Scorpio Sextile Pluto in Capricorn
The purging of old habits, beliefs and way of life continues into the spring. As Saturn sextiles Pluto for the 2nd time it is against the background of Acrux, the Crucifix. This is where in your own birth chart, between 8-13 degrees of Scorpio and Capricorn, you will start to rise again after the descent into the underworld which began in October 2012.You will see how to achieve what you’d previously thought impossible.
May 2013, Third Uranus/Pluto Square
As you know from the astrology of 2012, Uranus square Pluto is the elimination of the old through revolution. This third square falls on Aldebaran, symbolizing religious conflict and the fight to the death for your own beliefs. The war in Syria is a perfect example of this .Anticipate an upsurge in demands for democracy right across the globe. Both planets move to 11 degrees of their respective signs beginning a new decan and deepening their influence on a concrete level.
May–August 2013, Saturn trine Neptune/Chiron
Successful navigation of this trine requires consciously working with the water element, your feelings, by establishing a safe container. Dream work, a spiritual practice and any act of creativity such as photography, writing or painting will let you collaborate with deeper parts of your consciousness. You need to keep your feet planted firmly on the ground through consistent self discipline. The shadow side of this aspect is when you meet darkness or challenges and you build even stronger walls against the pain. Then Neptune in Pisces falls into the passive, addictive mode.
July Grand Trine in Water
July 17 brings a Grand Trine in Water between Jupiter/Black Moon Lilith/Saturn/Neptune/Chiron. The emphasis will be on finding constructive ways to achieve social justice, human rights and equality between men and women. This will not be all sweetness and light although surprising new ways of compromising then finding radical solutions will seem to emerge spontaneously. If you have planets or points in the first 10 degrees of a Water sign (Pisces/Cancer/Scorpio) or any planets between 2-6 degrees of any sign, you will benefit from this softer climate.
Jupiter Square Uranus/Pluto, August 2013
When Jupiter in Cancer forms a Cardinal T-square with Uranus and Pluto, we can expect an acceleration of political demands and increased battles for the control of resources such as oil and gas. Jupiter tends to blow things out of proportion and in Cancer, security needs will be forefront. Throughout the whole of 2013, there will be cracks occurring in the tectonic plates between nations over control of natural resources. This Cardinal Square impacts Iran’s chart increasing the possibility that attacks from outside will occur. As the power pendulum swings back towards the East and China needs to import oil, existing alliances will break down. Russia, China, Syria and Iran all have their natal Sun triggered by the ongoing Uranus/Pluto square increasing the likelihood of military threats or even conflict centered in the Arab nations. More progressively, there will be breakthroughs in new sources of energy under the ice caps, in the North and China seas and new means of accessing gas. Clean, free energy will become possible and desirable.
In your own life, if you have planets between 8-11 degrees of the Cardinal signs, watch for being taken in by promises not based in reality and keep your feet firmly on the ground.
Eclipses
Mark these dates below in your diary. All eclipses are planetary wild cards when anything can happen. Look at your own birth chart to see if you have planets or angles within 5 degrees of these eclipse degrees. That’s the area of your life that will be woken up and prodded into radical change. Plot your development through 2013 so you can make better, more congruent decisions.
- April 25 (Lunar), 5 Scorpio
- May 10 (Solar), 19 Taurus
- May 25 (Lunar), 4 Sagittarius
- October 18 (Lunar), 25 Aries
- November 3 (Solar), 11 Scorpio
There are five eclipses instead of the usual four in 2013, all but one across the Fixed and Cardinal axis. The very last of the Gemini/Sagittarius eclipses occurs on May 25th relieving the pressure on Mutable signs (Gemini/Virgo/Sagittarius/Pisces. When the Taurus/Scorpio axis is eclipsed, issues of survival, security and life’s big existential questions come under the spotlight. Feelings run high.
How Will 2013 Affect You?
If you have planets in Taurus, Scorpio or late Aries, 2013 will be a year of great personal change, depending on which House and which planet the eclipses fall.
Sensitized degrees will be:
- 12 and 25 Aries
- 19 Taurus
- 12 Cancer
- 5 and 11 Scorpio
- 12 Capricorn
You can see from a glance at the two eclipse charts that nearly all Taureans and Scorpios will be pushed out of their comfort zones-in a beneficial way! Eclipses plus Saturn and the North Node of Fate will set you onto a path with greater heart built on strong foundations. In 2013, an alchemy of reality and magic will free you from past pain—as long as you do the work!
Cancerians and Capricorns will experience yet another turn of their developmental DNA spiral at the 3rd Uranus/Pluto square in May. The Kozminsky symbol is:
“A Druid cutting the acorn from the oak with a silver sickle. Much wandering and many strange adventures make up their experiences in the worlds spiritual and material. It is a symbol of roaming.”
Water signs Cancer/Scorpio/Pisces can fulfill long held ambitions and plans in the summer between May-July. So, as Carlos Castenada warned, be careful what you wish for-you might just get it.
Remember that the planets ask the questions. The answers are up to you. You have Free Will in the context of the planetary patterns. The Greeks said that sky wisdom allows us to walk among the stars. In 2013, create your own sky story by pulling in your ties to likeminded others to respond to your prime directive at soul level.
