The November 2012 Eclipses: Are You in the Eye of the Hurricane?

By Lorna Bevan

“Three things cannot long be hidden: the Sun, the Moon and the Truth.” Buddha

Did you know that there is spiral DNA encoded in your life from birth in which portals/forks of destiny are embedded every 18.69 years of your life? If you live to be 93 you’ll experience 4 complete rounds of the zodiac with these “free from fate” points or 3 if you live past 75, as you climb the helix.

These portals are your natal lunar nodes bringing eclipses, known as the wild cards of the universe, blowing a huge blast of fresh air into whichever part of your life they fall. Eclipses happen when the Nodes of the Moon line up within 10 degrees of the Sun/Moon on the ecliptic creating Lunar eclipses (New Moon) or Solar Eclipses (Full Moon).

In your birth chart, this Nodal axis is of immense significance in your individual life. It’s as if life constantly returns you to this axis to remind you of your bigger purpose. It is an axis of tension and compulsion around which ideas of fate and destiny seem to hover. Your natal North Node degree and sign reveal your path in this life, acting like your own North Star keeping your compass aligned to your purpose. Check it out by sign, house and aspects.

Eclipses occur in pairs four weeks apart twice each year. Their wild maverick nature is revealed by the way they move clockwise around the zodiac signs instead of anti clockwise as all the planets, centaurs and asteroids do. Not all eclipses are equal and you feel the most impact when one conjuncts opposes or squares a planet or point in your chart.

What to Expect from Eclipses

  • Eclipses bring news of life’s big events: the birth of a baby, a marriage, a career breakthrough, a sudden divorce.
  • Eclipses bring on circumstances that in retrospect seem fated.
  • If you have a planet touched by the eclipse there’ll be an unexpected change of direction connected to the planet’s symbolism.
  • If an eclipse falls on your birthday, the following year will be exceptionally eventful.
  • Take any message at an eclipse seriously—there’s little chance you can have it reversed. Move on.
  • You might finally see the true character of someone close under the spotlight of an eclipse.
  • Something ends and something begins. At the time of the eclipse you’re on the bridge between past and future. You can’t go back.
  • Avoid ultimatums or threats.
  • Wait until the dust settles before making any big decisions-eclipses are emotional times.
  • Keep your schedule light around the days before and after the eclipse.
  • Don’t judge events as either good or bad—it could take weeks or months to understand their real meaning.
  • Eclipses often open doors you didn’t know were there.

The Eclipses in November 2012

Mark these dates in your diary:

  • 13 November 2012: Solar eclipse 22 degrees Scorpio
  • 28 November 2012: Lunar eclipse 6 degrees Gemini

The Nodes are moving from the Mutable axis of Gemini/Sagittarius to the Fixed axis of Taurus/Scorpio and the Solar eclipse on 13 November will show us where we’re headed over the next 18 months. From 7 February 2011 to 30 August 2012 the Nodes were in mutable Sagittarius/Gemini, bringing big shifts in technology, communication and consciousness. In Fixed Scorpio/Taurus, anticipate a much more emotional, feeling tone to life. People will be feeling extremely deeply and will be expressing strong opinions about what matters to them. The opposite end of the polarity is the South Node in Taurus. This is where self-sabotage manifests; in Taurus it will be the urge to deny self-evident truths, to take the easy option and settle for a comfortable material life.

Solar Eclipse, 13 November 2012

Solar eclipses tend to affect the men in our lives, bringing events seemingly out of nowhere.

Solar eclipses—a New Moon—are times of major endings and beginnings. As well as being eclipsed, this is a Super Moon at its closest to the earth and in line with the Sun and Earth. The strong gravitational pulls will create high tides, along with shifts in tectonic plates

Notice the oppositions from the eclipse to the South Node in Taurus which is exactly conjunct Caput Algol, one of the most intense and violent points in the zodiac. Neptune and Chiron are the outlet for all this energy. These two planets are more powerful than usual as they are stationing direct and also trined by Saturn in early Scorpio. Mars is conjunct Pluto square Uranus and on the Galactic centre. The shadow side of Neptune/Chiron brings the loss of old beliefs, pain and helplessness. Let’s hope that some of the hard edges will be softened instead. However, with Jupiter unaspected and retrograde, wisdom may not prevail.

Expect the ramping up of military threats between Israel and Iran and the revolutions in the Middle East and the civil war in Syria to intensify along with escalating demands for major change in the Euro Zone. This is a fight for life, for security, for democracy and for justice. Planets and points in Pluto ruled Scorpio can tend towards the ruthless and unrelenting in their expression. Tie this in with Saturn putting roadblocks and difficulties in place; you have a recipe for frustration and violence.

The Chandra Symbol for the eclipse degree says:

A Rug woven out of Rags. You take everything you experience in all its roughage just as it is. Because this is how it is, no shortcuts, no easy answers. Emotionally, this is the depth experience at its most intense. But there is an evolutionary drive of overwhelming power pushing you through the worst.

Will this Eclipse Affect Me Personally?

Any of your planets between 19–24 degrees of the Fixed signs (Taurus/Leo/Scorpio/Aquarius) are being woken up from a deep sleep and prodded into action. Also those between 5–9 degrees of Cardinal signs (Aries/Cancer/Libra/Capricorn).

Be alert for out-of-the-blue events in your own life which seem totally out of your control from October 13 to December 13. Men may leave your life or take major decisions which affect you. Ripples from eclipses can and often do manifest up to a month before and a month after the eclipse itself.

What were you doing back on 13 November 1993, what was important in your life then? That was the date of the last eclipse on this degree. You can expect something connected to back there then to come cycling round again for resolution. Look at your Birth Chart to see which aspect of your life will be woken up.

Lunar eclipses tend to affect the women in our lives, bringing emotional and inner changes rather than outside events. This eclipse takes you back to May/June/July 2012 and September 1993 to see how you’ve moved in since then. As Gemini/Sagittarius are Mutable signs symbolizing knowledge and wisdom, this is all about questioning old assumptions in the light of new information.

Events on the world stage will continue to be very unstable and volatile with much threat and counter threat. Mars is now in Cardinal sign Capricorn conjunct Pluto squaring Uranus and in a Finger of Fate with Saturn pointing towards the Moon in Gemini. The Warrior represents personal desire whilst Pluto, its higher octave symbolizes transpersonal intent. Instead of pushing your little egotistical agenda, take the higher road. Grow beyond “us versus them” to “we’re all in this together”.

More optimistically, the conjunction of Venus with Saturn in early Scorpio trine Neptune holds out some hope that sense will prevail over hotheadedness on the world stage. It’s at this eclipse with the stellium of Saturn/Venus/Mercury/plus the North Node that we will have an inkling of what the Saturn passage in Scorpio might bring to each of us. Stay alert for large clues.

The Sabian Symbol for this eclipse says:

A Well with Bucket and Rope under the Shade of majestic Trees. Man’s primordial faith in the hidden sustaining power of life.

Will this Eclipse Affect Me Personally?

Any of your planets and points between 2–9 degrees of Mutable signs (Gemini/Virgo/Sagittarius/Pisces) will be woken up by this eclipse. The planetary expression by sign and house will become very sensitive and unpredictable. Watch for big changes from October 28 through December 28.
