Hmmmm…..
So much for my friend’s interpretation of Converse Charts.
(and he says he works in the financial sector in this field?)
Obama 303 Romney 206
And now…. what does the relative ease in Romney’s chart suggest for his future on Jan 20? I would love to hear someone offer ideas on this.
Alex,
Great analysis as ever, especially your expertise on Black Holes. What do you think about the outcome of this election?
thanks!
Hi Alex
I have a friend who uses a technique called Converse Charting – they look at progressions going backwards in time rather than forward. He says that based on a look at the charts of both candidates on Inauguration Day this election “won’t even be close”… that it will be a definite win for Romney, not as a judgment against Obama’s personal character (__please__) but in a strange way as a protection to him.
I wonder if you know about technique and if you have used it in your work with Black Holes (work that’s given you a very god track record on things like American Elections).
Here’s a link that explains Converse Progressions fairly well for those who have more interest:

Alex, I think Obama lost the election with his comment about revenge because it shows how negative and it will turn off independent voters
Also, Alex, your “baked in the cake” analogy falls a little flat (pardon the pun) when you consider all of the early voting, absentee ballots, etc. – in significant numbers – which are all actually “cast” at different times, sometimes more than a week apart.
Hi, Alex.
Of course, I understand what you’re saying and agree with it. My only real point was that examining the transits/progressions, for example, to the natives’ charts on Inauguration Day could highlight what each of them will be “doing” that day! A lot of astrologers are using this as a predictive tool considering the “mixed messages” they’re getting from examination of Election Day data.
hi, CGW!
thanks for your thoughtful comments. however, whether we know the outcome on election day or not, that is the day the decision is made. it’s ‘baked in the cake,’ as it were, even if it takes months to resolve.
think of it this way. if you’re looking for astrological transits for a house purchase, you examine the settlement date (the election), not the date you plan to move in (the inaugural). or more to the point, the significant transit date is for the day you are hired for a new job, not the day you actually start it. if you have lousy transits at your interview, all the best energy in the world on the start date will not get you that job. election day represents the hiring, the inauguration is the start date.
from a practical standpoint, while these other intervening dates may reflect a connection to the process, it is extremely unlikely that either candidate would have a clear predominance in all of them. any split decision would only further muddy the waters of an already clouded stream.
hi, cassandra!
as you note, neptune has been very clearly evidenced in the past few months in romney’s behavior, but it’s actually been active a lot longer than that. it entered pisces, just a degree off exact square to his ascendant, in early february, just as his nomination became all but assured, and has been with him throughout, never more than two degrees off exact.
this hasn’t seemed to hurt romney so far, as he has finally attained a goal he sought outwardly for 7 years, and internally for likely most of his life. he officially became his party’s nominee under the exact square to his ascendant, and i would argue that neptune’s prominence in his life, as ruling the sun, mars and mercury, indicates a sympatico with the planet which encourages even hard aspects from it to reap rewards.
i wouldn’t go so far as to say it increases his chances of winning, but it does not appear to have had any dampening effect so far. it is for these reasons i did not include it in my analysis.
I just heard that up to 800,000 provisional ballots in Ohio won’t even be COUNTED until Nov. 17, a margin much wider than that by which any candidate has won Ohio in the last several elections, so the outcome could hinge on this development. That date should also be examined.
I’m curious about something.
There’s been a lot said by other astrologers about Mercury turning retrograde on Election Day and a possible repeat of circumstances such as those that occurred with Bush/Gore in 2000, when Mercury was also Rx. (Romney does have a natal Mercury Rx, which may mitigate.)
Considering this, since no one will probably actually be elected on November 6, and considering the fact that the Electoral College electors will cast their votes on December 17, 2012 and that those votes will not be counted until January 6, 2013, shouldn’t those dates also be at least casually perused?
Since there seems to be a pretty broad consensus that confusion will reign on Election Day and that the race will be exceptionally close, shouldn’t the target date for transit examination of both charts be Inauguration Day, January 20, 2013?
Thank you for considering my last question.
The glaring omission from the chart reviews is Neptune? Co-ruler of Romney’s Pisces Sun, in square aspect to his natal ASC/DSC axis and stations direct at 0% Pisces on November 11th, two days before the eclipse. Not really surprising that elusive Neptune is overlooked, but I never under-estimated the “ego losses” that can result from a hard Neptune transit. This transit aptly reveals Romney’s behavior during the last few months. Evasive, hard to pin down on anything at best, dishonest, deceitful at worst, sound familiar? Neptune is insidious, it erodes foundations until they ultimately collapse. The dream turns to disillusionment. Neptune may certainly play a big part on election day when considering the effects of Sandy in NY and NJ. If those folks are disenfranchised, are denied the chance to vote, there will be a lot of disappointment all round.
Let’s hope Obama wins because if Romney does, we’re in big trouble!
From your article about Paul Ryan: :) Thanks! The Sun at 9 Aquarius is part of a Galactic Grand Cross, conjoined a Pulsar also at 9 Aquarius and a Black Hole at 11 Aquarius, exactly opposed another Black Hole at 9 Leo, and squared to a third Black Hole at 6 Scorpio and the Maser at 7 Taurus. This complex interweaving of energies indicates an attraction for power and the ability to draw others into his orbit, for good or ill (the Black Holes); a good grasp of detail and a facility for disseminating his views (Pulsar); and a mix of controversy with the capability to enthuse or excite others (Maser). As a Black Hole native, Ryan is a good behind-the-scenes operative, someone who may feel more comfortable working from the shadows, one naturally drawn to the “second banana” position, but who is the true power behind the throne.
Mr Miller, I am so moved by your analysis. Howso? It is full of transits! Well, what I am writing to ask is about the vice presidents. You mention an epic thing potentially happening with the vote counting. This makes me want to immediately look towards who are the people who would take over if the pres was indisposed or taken away for a few months for whatever reasons? That would be just horrible but with Chiron and all in play, I worry bipartisanly lol. Let’s compare VPs so I can rest, medicine. Thanks! Please email me a link if I am too lazy to have discovered it…best Cindy
Just wondering if Obama’s Pluto trine natal Pluto might not signify a better Senate and House to work with, or a sense of freedom that he hasn’t had in the last 4 years because he can’t run again. Maybe he’ll start going over Congress’s heads and FINALLY using the bully pulpit? The thought of Romney/Ryan (or as I like to call them Rolls/Royce) winning is downright frightening for anyone in the US who isn’t a millionaire or billionaire.
Then so will all of us..not so thankful
Obama will lose in a landslide. Thanks god
That’s “coup de grace”. “Gras” = fat. Unless you want to boil someone in oil.
Nice try sarah. Obama is cooked.
Hi Alex – Thanks for the column. Watching the debates I wondered if there is anything to the idea that Obama has most of his planets on the passive side vs. Romney’s planets on the active side of the chart. Obama has been criticized for ‘leading from behind’ – which implies passivity and he certainly appeared passive last week. I’ve also heard that we’ve never had a president with Mars in Pisces – Romney would be the first – making his win seem less likely. Do these or other astrological factors in the candidates birth charts influence your analysis? One pundit claimed that Obama has never been a good debater – making me wonder if he is fundamentally too passive to perform well in that area. Just wondering – thanks again,
Sarah
The drum I have been beating is probably minor but maybe you can tell me your opinion. Obama has an interesting natal aspect with his North Node conjunct the Royal star Regulus conjunct Uranus. This shows a natal promise of falling from a quick rise to the top. I think transit Mars squaring his node on debate night along with the transit node at 26 Scorpio might have set that natal promise in motion, even if only for the debate though the transit node remains squared through the election. Here is what the ancients said about Uranus conjunct Regulus, and as we know they were very doom and gloom so I hope their view is over the top.
“With Uranus: Energetic, ambitious, successful, may be unjust or dishonorable, self-aggrandizement, high official position, panders to aristocracy, associated with religion for business purposes, gain through speculation and companies, favorable for marriage, sorrow through death of daughter and disappointment through a son; friends become enemies at end of life, may retire and live in seclusion, violent death through accident or assassination. [Robson*, p.197.]”
that’s an interesting point, francine. i don’t work much with the nodes, i prefer points with mass, so i can’t really comment as to their affects when transited. my only quibble with your source would be that it must be somewhat modern; the ancient world was of course unaware of uranus’ existence. which isn’t to say it may not be valid, but that as a viewpoint, it is at most 200 years old, give or take.
francine, thank you so much for your support. your comments mean a lot to me.
to be fair, there’s is probably less reserve of my political views in a bio or profile of a candidate, but i did try to maintain some level of swiss neutrality here. :^)
frankly, i have problems with both candidates, so perhaps that made it easier. i’m not going to be happy with the state of this country for the next four years whoever wins, and i don’t think many of us will. pluto in cap and the uranus square is just a really rough time for governments generally, and pluto is lining up to oppose the US sun and mercury, then finish the sign with its first return to its US natal degree.
not a ‘kick up your heels’ time.
hi, barabara! thanks for your very generous comments and support.
i didn’t want to get too far in the weeds by looking at wives and running mates. it’s already complicated, and with four more charts, we’re likely to see contradiction, just more muddying of the waters. not that there’s really a super-strong outlook as it is!
the other reason to avoid that level is that, in practical politics, these factors count very little. statistically speaking, people are not overly swayed by running mate, and less by spouse. they do tend to focus on the top spot when making a voting decision.
so even if jill biden has great transits on election day, i wouldn’t consider it useful information in determining an outcome.
i had previously looked at ryan’s chart last month, and profiled joe biden in 2008 (check the archives), though neither with an eye to this election particularly.
hi, kiana – thanks for your input! i think what the debate showed most clearly was that dampening effect of romney’s saturn exactly atop obama’s mercury. the president’s diminishment (saturn) was palpable from the second romney opened his mouth.
the good news is, since he has now encountered this effect in person, there is every chance obama will be able to react and adapt, and make a better effort to counter the romney saturn effect in future debates.
if he wants to… he’s going through his chiron return now, final of three passes, and it’s a difficult, very internal time, lots of soul-searching and questing. obama may have decided, even on some subconscious level, that he doesn’t really want to do this anymore.
I like how you did this, organized, point by point and I especially thank you for not letting your own political persuasian get in the way of your report. I have had a hard time finding a liberal astrologer whom just ” sticks to the facts ma’am” without throwing in nasty comments about the contender along the way. Read Andrew’s nastiness in the comments about Romney’s falsehood and lies and how Obama will shred him at the debate. None of that personal hatred should be involved in astrology and I think you are wonderful to be so level headed to avoid it. Thank you.
Alex, your command of the astrological spectrum is amazing, and ditto about the work you have put into these articles. I am curious about the VP candidates’ charts. Surely their charts will also tell us about their futures–and no mention of how they would play into the voters’ decisions. Also the wives (are there women in this world–yes!!!)–surely their charts can tell us something as well about their futures. Maybe a “quickie” about those for us before the election if charts are available. I would also have loved to hear a bit more psychological thought–the depth of Obama’s mind, VS Romney’s (which so far is not evident to me) and maybe not important to most, but very important to some of us. Just because you can make money doesn’t make you wise.
Thanks.
Well Romneys charismatic win, lies and all at the debate and Obamas emotionless lackluster performance seem to be right in line with the heavens..makes me nervous. As a progressive woman I see so much at stake.
thanks, stevee! i appreciate your support. i think it’s important to remember that astrology suggests outcomes, but it does not create or dictate them. hopefully this will be a missed opportunity for romney, who appears unprepared to capitalize on his celestial advantages.
at least three other GOP nominee contenders also had better transits on election day than barack obama, but they aren’t the ones on the ballot, for a variety of reasons, and are thus unable to put their stars to the test. this is not a good period for the president, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he will lose.
Thank you for the article, Alex. I cannot imagine all of the work that must go into analyzing and assessing all of the astrological components and then bringing that information together to form such a well wrought presentation. I always look forward to reading your planetary translations!
This article has me at the edge of my seat with nail biting anticipation and worry. Certainly the criteria cast down from the stars are more reliable than my own deductions- but, gosh darn- say it ain’t so!
Thanks Alex! :)
hi, andrew! thanks for your comment. i guess you missed the huge note at the start of the article which establishes that i am not a romney supporter and that the facts on the ground do not currently appear to support his victory.
that said, let me say it again. i am certainly not a republican; i’m very likely a LOT more liberal than most reading this article, perhaps even yourself.
and it certanly looks today, and when i wrote the article, that romney will lose. but it’s not the job of an astrologer to look around him at what he thinks will happen, and then find an astrological reason for it to happen. nor is it the astrologer’s job to decide what outcome is best desired, and find an astrological reason to support that.
it’s my job to look at the data and make a conclusion. whether it seems rational based on the current conditions, or whether it’s what i want to happen, is immaterial.
let me say it clearly: romney.has.better.transits.period.
whether or not that means he wins, is another matter, and one we’ll discuss in next month’s Daykeeper Journal.
I guess the writer of this article is a republican and that the article was written long ago (today is October 2, 2012). Romney is way down in the polls and the only thing left in this election to guide voters is the debates. Tomorrow is the first debate. I do not care how good either of the candidates is debating. There is no way one of them is going to score big. I do think that President Obama will shred to nothing Romey’s falsehoods and lies. The majority of Astrologers have concluded that Obama will win the Presidency.
