With six planets in Pisces, this portal is excellent for planting the seeds of our spiritual goals. It takes place on the threshold of the Mexica New Year 12 Reed, which native guides (in Mexico where I live) associate with inner work, in preparation for 2012. Nestled at the midpoint between Mars—Lord of Action—and Mercury, the Thinker, this New Moon reminds us that spiritual is not synonymous with passive, and that inner achievement deserves, at least, the same level of dedication and strategy that we usually apply to material concerns.
Ask yourself: If you knew for a fact that there was a pile of $5,000,000 dollars waiting for you in a certain forest in Siberia, and that if you got there in the next 3 months it would be yours to collect, what would you do? If you’re like most of us, you would go out of your way, pushing your inner and outer resources to the limit to find and retrieve the fortune. Every day, we put time and effort into professional, physical and material goals, but when it comes to spiritual growth, the greatest of all treasures, we tend to be—like Pisces who rules this side of life—a bit fuzzy around the edges.
Dane Rudhyar’s interpretation of the New Moon’s Sabian symbol reinforces this theme. It describes a lady wrapped in a large fox stole. Rudhyar explains: In “mythology the fox is always a clever… animal. Spiritual will… has to be shielded and intelligence or acumen can be the most precious help….”
As we apply our wits to higher goals, it helps to remember we are not alone. Pisces relates to angels, as does Jupiter, who conjuncts asteroid Angel in the New Moon chart. The imminent Mexica New Year relates to the East, Archangel Michael’s point of entrance; in Rudhyar’s Sabian interpretation, he refers to a sword and shield, both connected to Michael.
The following suggestions are designed to optimize and strengthen your intent at this portal, including one of my most powerful protection affirmations, adapted to seal and protect your spiritual goals.

Ceremony and affirmation for the Pisces New Moon, March 4, 2011
1) Light your incense as you say,
I call upon the angels (or divine forces) of discernment, intelligence, will and action, to help clarify and commit to my intentions for spiritual progress.
2) Light your candles or candles as you say,
This flame focuses my awareness of the light of Infinite Love and Intelligence that fills my path, surrounding and protecting me all times as It guides my path to spiritual fulfillment.
3) In one or two sentences, summarize your spiritual goal. Some examples from my prayer group included:
“To live in the joy of constant, conscious union with Divine Love.”
“To love myself and others and to know how to receive.”
“To find my life’s mission, to love it, defend it, respect it and carry it out in my soul…”
4) Consider and list the actions you need to take in favor of your spiritual progress. Examples from my prayer group included:
Get up earlier and go apart to pray.
Take all courses I can at ________ (name of school or center).
Organize my meditation and prayer times.
Take time for myself.
5) Repeat the following affirmation during 6 minutes:
My (our) clear intention connects me instantly with the circumstances, inner and outer resources and guidance for its successful manifestation. Spirit’s light now shines on and around my spiritual path, and Archangel Michael shields it with his hosts and with the sword of divine authority cuts away any influence or distraction unlike the Luminous Good that surrounds me now.
As the Moon continues to wax over the next 2 weeks, the seed you planted in Mind at this portal will continue to grow. Each day, water it with your creative attention by reading your goal; visualize it already done, and repeat the above affirmation for at least 6 minutes.
You don’t have to go to Siberia to find the riches awaiting you. Right where you are, in the forest of your own deep mind, lays the one priceless treasure. The gate to the forest opens wide at this New Moon, and prayer lights your way to find it. How much does it mean to go there?
