Donald Trump’s 79th Solar Return

By Alex Miller

Round cake with red and white icing, topped with toy soldiers, tanks, a plane, American flag, and vintage posters—perfect for celebrating Donald Trump’s 79th birthday or a patriotic Solar Return event.

US President Kim Jong Don will be celebrating his 79th birthday on Saturday, 14 June, 2025, with a North-Korean-style military parade in the nation’s capital, while simultaneously, 3000 miles away, US National Guard and Marines patrol the country’s largest city, ostensibly to quell “insurrectionists” protesting his administration’s immigration policies.  The dual displays of military power, both unprecedented and controversial, well encapsulate the leading feature of Dear Leader’s Solar Return, which occurs the day before:  a square between Mars, planet of the military, violence and war, and Uranus, planet of shocks, upsets, controversy, volatility, and extreme reactions.

The parade will cost upwards of $45 million, a might-makes-right display of raw US military power that is superficially being held in honor of the 250th anniversary of the US Army’s founding, but just happens to coincide with Trump’s birthday as well.  Included will be more than 6000 uniformed soldiers, saluting the Commander-in-Chief in review, lines of newly repainted tanks, infantry vehicles, helicopter flyovers and parachute jumps, a spectacle such as the country has never before witnessed, but a staple of the authoritarian dictatorships Trump so obviously envies.  As Trump himself promised, “We will celebrate a spectacular military parade in Washington, D.C., like no other; gonna be better and bigger than any parade we’ve ever had in this country.”  Indeed, the capital’s streets will groan under the weight, and many will need to be repaved in the aftermath of tank treads which will tear them to shreds.

TSR25 NK parade
It doesn’t take much imagination to see Donald Trump’s face on that float, instead of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un; a Mars/Uranus square on the Solar Return suggests unconventional (Uranus) displays of military power (Mars)

The personal dimension to the theoretically transpersonal celebration is clearly imaged by asteroid Donn 4689 (for Donald) at 25 Taurus, conjoined Uranus at 28 Taurus, squared to Mars at 27 Leo, accompanied by asteroid Troemper 28130 (our celestial referent for Trump) at 29 Leo.  As well, this square closely overlays Trump’s natal MC (career, status, place in the world) at 24 Taurus and natal Ascendant (public image, how others see us) at 29 Leo, reinforcing the sense that this parade is really being held to honor The Donald, and the Army’s founding date is just an extremely convenient excuse.

But the Solar Return story doesn’t end there, not by a long shot.  Also with Donn and Uranus are asteroids MANIAC 228029 and Tantalus 2102 at 26 and 27 Taurus, squaring Troemper/Mars.  This suggests serious mental breakdown (MANIAC) for the US President (Donn, Troemper) in the coming year, increased aggression and anger (Mars), volatility and unpredictability (Uranus), which may cause him to commit heinous acts (Tantalus, named for a mythic Greek king whose horrible crimes extended to dismembering and boiling his own son, to serve in a feast for the gods).

In that context, the military buildup in LA could be just the first step to a planned takeover of the country, with largely peaceful, small-scale protests (Uranus) against the government’s treatment of immigrants (also Uranus) forming a pretext for a dry run of the military coup (Mars).  State and local leaders have disputed the need for these reinforcements to the LAPD’s officers, well experienced in crowd control, and have sued over the administration’s actions in mobilizing the Guard and Marines, on a mission for which they have not been properly trained.

TSR25 moscow parade
Tanks rolling through the streets reads more Moscow than Washington DC; with asteroid Troemper conjunct Mars, the military parade, ostensibly to honor the US Army’s 250th birthday, is really more about Trump wanting to play with his toys

Although the Mars/Uranus square is the most standout feature of the Solar Return (hereafter abbreviated “SR”), there’s plenty more to be gleaned about Trump’s upcoming year.  Set for the moment when the transit Sun returns to its natal place, at 12:57 PM EDT on 13 June 2025 in Washington, DC, the SR Sun at 22 Gemini conjoins both the MC and asteroid America, at 20 Gemini.  The MC is the point of highest elevation in the chart, the focus of all eyes, and with his Sun here, conjunct America, it’s clear we’ll be getting an eyeful of Donald Trump (Sun) on the national stage (America) for the foreseeable future.

“Over-exposed,” might be one way to term it.  Americans tend to tire of those whom they see ceaselessly, and the more we see of Trump, the less pleasant the experience is likely to become, even for fans.  Given that the Sun’s primary major aspect is an opposition to asteroid Niobe 71 at 23 Sagittarius, the most visible character trait Trump is likely to display this year is his overweening, inordinate pride.  That conceit and arrogance wears thin quickly, and as the Good Book says, often leads to a fall.

This polarity forms the String of a Kite pattern, with trines to asteroids Whitehouse 4036 at 24 Libra, and Ophelia 171 at 27 Aquarius.  Whitehouse, of course, represents the Presidency; it’s also at station, turning direct on June 7, so Trump will be dug in there, entrenched, not to say immovable.  This could evoke a type of siege mentality, if his popularity sinks to a level where even formerly friendly venues are judged too risky for appearances.

TSR25 beijing parade
Beijing, too, idolizes the cult of the Dear Leader with expressions of raw power; with asteroid Donn conjunct Uranus and asteroids MANIAC and Tantalus, Trump is more than usually susceptible to erratic mood swings (Uranus), crazy ideas (MANIAC) and heinous acts (Tantalus)

And speaking of mentality, Ophelia represents insanity, named for the tragic Shakespeare character who loses her mind after Hamlet rejects her.  Trump’s falling poll numbers could trigger some similar backlash, further unhinging him.  The likelihood of some form of mental decline is enhanced by Ophelia’s square to Donn and opposition to Troemper (creating a T-Square), feeding further cognitive deterioration into the equation.

Also at station are asteroids Nemesis 128 at 15 Libra (turning direct June 5) and King 2305 at 18 Libra (turning direct June 4).  Points embedded at station carry a lot of heft, becoming pivotal agents in biography or character; the combination of Nemesis, King, and Whitehouse is a particularly telling one.  It incorporates the Presidency itself (Whitehouse) with Trump’s desire to wield that power like an absolute monarch (King) and his ability to act as a destroyer, bringing ruin (Nemesis).

Trump’s willingness to see himself as born to the purple comes naturally, with several markers of royalty prominent in the natal chart.  Incredibly, asteroid King is also stationary at birth; at 24 Libra, it conjoins stationary Jupiter, traditional ruler of royalty, at 17 Libra, and turned direct June 11, 1946.  As well, asteroid Roy 14533 at 29 Taurus (from the Old French “roy,” meaning “king”) is exactly conjunct the Ascendant and Fixed Star Regulus, known as the Royal Star.  And asteroid Rey 13647 (Spanish for “king”) at 9 Aries closely squares Mercury with asteroid Donn, at 8 and 7 Cancer.  It’s simply natural for Trump to think (Mercury) of himself as “King Donald” (Rey/Donn).  And all the more so now, with the recent Solar Eclipse of 29 March 2025 exactly conjunct natal Rey.

TSR25 king
All Hail King Donald, Master of Excrescence! With asteroid King at station, both natally and in the 2025 Solar Return, Trump fancies himself an absolute monarch

SR asteroids Roy and Rey feed into this self-aggrandizing fantasy further, with Rey at 22 Capricorn conjunct the SR Moon at 22 Cap, and Roy at 8 Libra opposed Saturn with Neptune at 1 and 2 Aries.  Don’t be surprised if a cult (Neptune) of King (Roy) Trump begins to form around the Chief Executive (Saturn).

Ironically, planned protests across the country on the day of the birthday parade are being labeled “No Kings Day.”  When questioned about this, Trump shrugged it off, stating, “No, no, we’re no king; we’re no king,” simultaneously using the royal “we” in his disavowal.

Of course, we’re discussing the Solar Return here, but in addition to the Sun, quite a few points find themselves reoccupying home base in the days leading up to Trump’s birthday.  We just mentioned asteroid King, within hailing distance of its natal place, but both Mercury and Mars will also be in range.  Mercury at 9 Cancer is just one degree past its natal place, as is Mars at 27 Leo.  This acts to reinforce innate patterns with communication and cognition (Mercury), action and aggression (Mars).  It’s like a general reset, energizing lifelong habitual responses, and discourages innovation or growth in these areas.

TSR25 assad
Every dictatorship looks the same: oversized pictures of the leader and shows of his strength, as this Assad regime parade in Syria attests; with his Sun conjunct asteroid America on the MC, it will be a year of high visibility for Trump, affecting his reputation (MC) with the nation (America)

We’ve already spoken considerably about Mars and the potential threat it represents, but Mercury’s position has its pitfalls, too.  Conjoined Jupiter (0 Cancer), asteroids House 4950 and Washingtonia 886 (both at 1 Cancer) and TNO Chaos 19521 (3 Cancer), there’s more than a mouthful of political peril implied.  Jupiter rules politics generally, and specific references to the US political system can be seen in House (for the House of Representatives) and Washingtonia (the capital).  The Jupiter/Mercury combination ensures continued political (Jupiter) rhetoric (Mercury), and lots of it (Jupiter also), while Chaos ensures Trump’s patented brand of turmoil, disruption and disorder (Chaos) remains unabated.

But there may be a silver lining to the House/Chaos dark cloud.  Republicans have the slenderest of majorities there, and if even a handful of congressional representatives refuse to sign on to the President’s slightest whim, the whole edifice comes crashing down.  Already there are indications that the “Big Beautiful Bill” may come to naught after the Senate finishes tinkering with it, and repassage in the House becomes problematic.  Several members have voiced concerns about certain provisions in the massive 1000+ page legislation, even such administration stalwarts as Majorie Taylor Greene, and have stated that, had they fully understood its contents, they would not have voted for it.  It wouldn’t take much for the Bill to go down in flames, dooming Trump’s single legislative gambit.

Additional connections to Mercury include a conjunction with asteroid Icarus 1566 at 13 Cancer, and an exact square from dwarf planet Makemake at 9 Libra. Icarus represents rash, reckless actions taken against advice, heedless of the consequences, leading to disaster. Not a great energy to be aligned with decision-maker Mercury in the Solar return of the most powerful man in the world. Makemake, too, encourages wild, bizarre, uncontrolled responses, things which shock us at a “next level” escalation, with a decidedly “crazy” vibe.

TSR25 trump parade
What the military parade in DC might look like, with Trump reviewing “his” troops; a conjunction of Mercury with asteroid Icarus, squared by Makemake, suggests rash, reckless, risky (Icarus), even crazy (Makemake) decisions from the Commander-in-Chief

All in all, it’s shaping up to be a tense year for Donald Trump, fraught with potential personal peril (Mars/Uranus contacts can promote assassination as well, as evidenced by the abortive attempt in Butler, PA last summer, when the two were conjunct), legislative disarray, and civil unrest.

The rest of us just have to grit our teeth, keep our heads down, and plow through it.
