Some people never learn. Despite being found liable for sexual assault and defamation last year in a civil action brought by writer E. Jean Carroll, who sued him for slanderous statements attempting to rebut her claims of rape, Donald Trump continued to defame Carroll, post-verdict. And Carroll continued to sue him. And Trump continues to defame her. Will she sue again?
That first jury awarded Carroll $5 million in damages, and a second jury has just considerably upped the ante, with compensatory and punitive damages totaling some $83 million, in a verdict which came down on Friday 26 January 2024. Having already been found liable in that first trial, there was no testimony regarding guilt in this one: guilt was stipulated. This trial was purely to determine what additional financial penalties, if any, would be exacted against Trump for continuing his bad behaviors. Unlike round one, Trump appeared in person for round two, though there was no requirement for him to do so. He even testified, if you can call the court restricting his answers to “yes” or “no” only on the three allowed questions “testimony.” Disgusted with his inability to use his courtroom ramblings as a forum for another campaign fundraiser, Trump left the scene abruptly and in a fit of pique during closing arguments.
The Sun is also conjunct Pluto at 0 Aquarius, ruling criminal behavior and having affinities with the issue of rape, based in the myth of Hades, Pluto’s Greek counterpart, abducting and ravishing his niece Persephone. Pluto also promotes devastating outcomes in some circumstances, and asking this “billionaire” to fork over 83 million smackers might well fall into that category. And in addition, the Sun is still opposing asteroid Nemesis 128, a point noted for ruin and destruction, often self-created.
Asteroid Carol 2214 (alternate spelling) at 18 Gemini conjoins a stationary asteroid Whitehouse 4036 at 10 Gemini, an allusion to the former president, and more closely squares asteroid Troemper 28130 at 20 Pisces (our celestial referent for The Donald), showing the conflict (square) between them. Whitehouse turned direct two days prior to the verdict, indicating reversal or change of direction, while Troemper is coming into conjunction with Neptune at 25 Pisces, which rules disappointment and deception or false statements generally. Trump is also seen as asteroid Donn 4689, which at 13 Capricorn conjoins an exact pairing of Mercury and Mars at 16 Capricorn, signaling a hostile (Mars) verdict (Mercury) for Trump (Donn).
Even the judge and attorneys got in on the cosmic act. Judge Lewis Kaplan is seen as asteroid Lewis 4796 at 16 Leo, squared to Justitia and Themis, placing him firmly on the side of justice; and as asteroid Kaplan 1987 at 9 Virgo, opposing Saturn at 5 Pisces, ruling loss and restriction, also suggesting penalties and punishments. A T-Square is formed with Whitehouse at 10 Gemini, indicating whose punishment the judge will be overseeing, a former US president.
Trump attorney Alina Habba is represented by asteroid Aline 266, which conjoins Donn at 13 Capricorn exactly; there’s clearly no daylight between Trump and his lawyer. Carroll attorneys Shawn Crowley and Roberta Kaplan (no relation to the judge) are seen as asteroids Sean 7051 (phonetic match, masculine spelling) at 3 Gemini opposed asteroid Crowley 28794 at 4 Sagittarius, forming a T-Square with Saturn at 5 Pisces; and as asteroid Roberts 3428 (for Roberta) at 12 Aries, within orb of Jeanne/Elisabetta and squared Donn/Aline, suggesting her affinity with Carroll (Jeanne/Elisabetta) and antagonism (square) toward Trump (Donn) and his legal team (Aline). Additionally, Sean appears at station, turning direct the very day of the verdict, and also conjoined Whitehouse, while Roberts opposes asteroid Victoria 12 at 18 Libra, named for the Roman goddess of victory, suggesting plaintiff’s win. Roberta Kaplan is further represented by asteroid Roberto 96257 (the masculine equivalent), which at 3 Leo opposes the spotlighting Sun at 0 Aquarius, bringing her to national attention.
Of course, Trump will file an appeal, so there’s no telling when or if Carroll will actually receive any compensation. In the meantime, Trump is out the $83 million regardless, as he must post a bond in that amount to the court, until his appeal is resolved. Indeed, there’s no indication of his ability to pay, despite his constant boasts of his net worth. But the award is a victory for Carroll nonetheless, who may even tap Trump for a few million more, as he continues his campaign of defamation against her. As was noted up front, some people never learn.
