Another day, another mass shooting in the US. The US in 2023 so far has averaged roughly 1.5 such incidents per day, defined as shootings where four or more persons are killed or injured. We’ve covered many of the more sensational of these over the years, and all betray the same pattern, of shooter PNAs (Personal-Named Asteroids) in stressful placement, victim PNAs clustered and tied to death indicators, and place names forming significant aspects.
The shooting at Covenant School, however, a private Christian elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, on 27 March 2023, has a few new wrinkles to address. Most shooters in these cases are white males, aged 18-24; Audrey Hale, the suspect here, is 28 and transgendered, assigned female at birth. Hale, who also used the name Aiden and “he/him” pronouns in a professional capacity, was in the process of transitioning to male, and a former student at the school.
Hale entered Covenant at 10:13 AM CDT in 27 March 2023, shooting her way into the building with an AR-15 style assault rifle, also armed with an automatic handgun. She killed six – three nine-year-old students, identified as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney; and three adults, school head Katherine Koonce, 60, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, and custodian Mike Hill, 61, before being killed by responding police at 10:27 AM. None of the victims appear to have been targeted, just found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hale’s birthdate has been given as 24 March 1995, so the shooting occurred just three days after her 28th birthday.
Asteroid Requiem, named for the funeral mass for the dead, is a leading player in the tragedy. The 10:13 AM entry time yields an MC of 23 Aquarius, exactly conjunct asteroid Apophis, named for the ancient Egyptian personification of pure evil, also exactly conjunct Hale’s natal asteroid Requiem. Transit Requiem at 19 Sagittarius conjoined the transit Descendant at 15 Sagittarius and closely opposed the transit Moon (ruling early childhood generally) at 20 Gemini on the 15 Gemini Ascendant.
Hale’s potential propensity for evil was acknowledged also by natal asteroid Tantalus, a symbol of the commission of heinous crimes, which at 6 Aries conjoined the 3 Aries Sun and opposed natal asteroid Audrey at 11 Libra. Natal Apophis refined the venue for this manifestation; at 14 Taurus it squares natal Mars at 13 Leo, ruling attacks, guns and violent death, as well as asteroid Gunn (phonetic match for “gun”), and forms a T-Square with several markers of victims of the atrocity,
- Conjoined asteroid Peaker (for substitute teacher Cynthia Peak) at 18 Taurus, and
- Squared a cluster of asteroids including Damocles (the looming threat), Evelyn (for student Evelyn Dieckhaus), William (for student William Kinney) and Christian (for the private Christian school) at 8, 11, 12 and 15 Aquarius.
Note also that Gunn is at station, having turned direct just two days before Hale’s birth, indicating that firearms would play a pivotal role in her biography. The Aquarian arm of the T-Square was activated at the shooting by transit William, Gunn and Tantalus, at 7, 9 and 11 Aquarius, with transit Uranus at 16 Taurus, ruling shootings generally, aligned with natal Tantalus.
Audrey Hale was highlighted on the day of the shooting by the transit Sun at 6 Aries (exactly conjunct natal Tantalus) conjoined transit Audrey at 7 Aries and opposed transit Hale at 13 Libra, with transit Rip (“RIP”) and Christian at 9 and 11 Libra, and transit Evelyn at 3 Aries. A loose Grand Cross is formed with transit Mars at 1 Cancer and transit TNO Ixion (named for first murderer in Greek myth) at 4 Capricorn.
Natal Ixion at 29 Scorpio conjoins Pluto at 0 Sagittarius, making Hale part of the generation with this “doubly homicidal” vibe (with Pluto being the planetary ruler of homicide) which has produced so many mass murderers. This pair trines the Sun, further personalizing its energies to Hale. Transit Anubis, named for the ancient Egyptian deity governing funerary rites, comes to its retrograde station at 5 Sagittarius, conjoined natal Pluto/Ixion, on March 28, the day after the attack.
Anubis also ties to a Grand Cross that depicts the circumstance, both generally and specific to several victims. Anubis squares Saturn at 2 Pisces, ancient lord of death, with Damocles, the unseen threat looming overhead, at 1 Pisces, and asteroid Nash, for Nashville, at 0 Pisces, opposes asteroid Cynthia (for victim Cynthia Peak) at 4 Gemini, and squares a combination of asteroids Dieckvoss (for victim Evelyn Dieckhaus) and Child (representing the students en masse), both at 4 Virgo, and asteroid Burton at 5 Virgo, specifying the location (the Covenant School is located on Burton Hills Boulevard). The Grand Cross ties to Hale’s natal chart with asteroid Lachesis at 0 Pisces (named for the mythic Greek Fate who determines the span of life) and Pluto at 0 Sagittarius. Note that these are exactly conjunct and squared by transit Nash for the homicides in Nashville, where Hale took it upon herself to determine the span of her victims’ lives, and also activated by transit Pluto, which at 0 Aquarius is exactly sextile and semisextile natal Pluto and Lachesis.
Transit Neptune, ruling victims, is involved in a remarkable exact triple conjunction with asteroids Atropos, named for the mythic Greek Fate who severs the thread of life at death, and Halley (for victim Hallie Scruggs); also here are asteroids Lachesis and asteroid Peaker (also for victim Cynthia Peak), both at 23 Pisces. This cluster joins a T-Square, opposed asteroid Osiris at 29 Virgo, named for the Egyptian god of the dead, and asteroid Hill at 26 Sagittarius, here doing double duty, representing both victim Mike Hill and the Burton Hills Boulevard locale. This pattern overlays a T-Square in Hale’s nativity, comprised of asteroids Kinney (for victim William Kinney) and Hale (the shooter’s surname) at 27 and 29 Sagittarius; Koon (for victim Katherine Koonce) at 22 Virgo; and Anubis at 21 Pisces. Natal Burton at 1 Cancer squared the Sun/Tantalus conjunction, and was conjoined exactly by transit Mars for the attack.
Two asteroid referents for victims appear at station in Hale’s birth chart, indicating major importance in her life or biography. Asteroid Michela, for victim Mike Hill, appears at 28 Scorpio, conjoined the Ixion/Pluto pairing, with Michela turning retrograde two days before her birth. Asteroid Kathy, for victim Katherine Koonce, appears at 6 Leo, aligned with Gunn and Mars, and turned direct three days after Hale’s birth.
Another primary marker of Hale’s potential to wreak havoc on children is seen in a natal stellium of Saturn (death) at 17 Pisces, exactly conjunct asteroid Child, with Mercury (ruling children generally and early education specifically) at 14 Pisces, asteroid Icarus (rash, reckless acts heedless of the consequences) at 12 Pisces, and asteroid Nemesis (ruin or destruction) at 18 Pisces. This T-Squares asteroid Rip, another death indicator, at 19 Gemini and Jupiter, bringing fame and notoriety, at 15 Sagittarius.
As with most individuals who have asteroid referents for their names, Audrey Hale’s PNAs connect with the Sun (Moon, Ascendant and Mercury being the next most common placements). Asteroid Audrey at 10 Libra opposes the 3 Aries Sun, while asteroid Hale at 29 Sagittarius is squared. Hale’s sexual identity registers in the skies as well, with asteroid Antinous (named for the male lover of Roman Emperor Hadrian) at 1 Cancer in square to the Sun and semisquare Mars. Asteroid Sappho, named for an ancient Greek lesbian poet, appears at station at 28 Cancer, making gay themes an embedded factor in her psyche (Sappho turned direct March 15, but remains at that degree in the nativity). Sappho is also trine the Sun and inconjunct Venus at 25 Aquarius. At the shooting, transit Antinous at 3 Pisces joined the Saturn stellium and aligned with natal Lachesis at 0 Pisces; transit Sappho at 16 Leo conjoined natal Gunn/Mars, for the first transgendered mass shooter of which I am aware.
Hale was taken down by two responding police officers, Rex Engelbert and Michael Collazo, as she was preparing to reload. Transit asteroids Engelhardt (closest to Englebert) and Michelle (for Michael Collazo; there is no exact match for “Michael,” but several feminine variations can be used) conjoin each other at 12 and 13 Cancer, showing their proximity in the event, and are widely squared the transit Sun/Audrey conjunction, displaying the conflict between them and the shooter. Natally Hale has asteroid Engelhardt at station, again indicating an important role to play in her biography. At 26 Cancer, natal Engelhardt exactly squares natal asteroid Osiris at 26 Aries, bringing together the concept of death with an approximation of the officer who killed her, and was exactly opposed by transit Pluto, modern ruler of death, at its direct station of 26 Capricorn in October of 2022, less than six months before Officer Engelbert became the means of her death.
Transit Copland, for both officers generally, appears at 13 Pisces, squared transit Requiem at 19 Sag, linking cops and death. Transit Polizzi (for “police”, based in German Polizei and Italian Polizia) makes the connection even more plain, in an exact conjunction with transit asteroid Atropos (death) and Neptune (religious institutions, including schools) at 25 Pisces. Also at that degree is asteroid Halley, which can be taken as an additional referent for Hale. Both transit Copland and natal Polizzi conjoin natal Nemesis at 18 Pisces, identifying police as the ultimate source of Hale’s downfall and destruction, however well-deserved.
Audrey Hale is reported to have been under a psychiatrist’s care for an emotional disorder which has not been specified. Her parents, with whom she lived, were unaware that Hale had secreted seven firearms in their home, all purchased legally. Another senseless killing, in a country where access to weapons of war by the civilian population is far too easy.
Another massacre, another memorial; when will at all end?
