On Thursday, October 31, 2019, the US House of Representatives voted to advance with a formal impeachment proceeding, after a month of closed-door sessions garnered “flawed process” arguments from congressional Trump supporters. Halloween was perhaps the perfect date for an escalation of what Trump terms the “Witch Hunt” against him. As popular support, not just for Trump’s impeachment, but removal from office, has grown, Speaker Pelosi felt secure putting her members on the record with a vote, and with public hearings in the offing, now was the time to regularize the process.
The Speaker opened the vote at 11:22 AM EDT, the magic number of 218 for passage was reached at 11:25, and the vote officially called at 11:29 AM. As voting began, an exact Jupiter/Moon conjunction at 23 Sagittarius aligned exactly with the Ascendant, symbolizing opening the political process (Jupiter) to public view (Moon). The Moon is void, perhaps indicating that this process, though successful in the House, will go nowhere in the Senate, leading to the Void Moon’s typical result of “no action taken.”
These points conjoin Donald Trump’s natal Moon at 21 Sag and oppose centaur Asbolus at 22 Gemini on the Descendant, also exactly conjoined Trump’s natal Sun, personalizing the moment to him specifically. Asbolus represents the zeitgeist, the spirit of the times, having one’s finger on the pulse of public sentiment, and Nancy Pelosi seems to be riding the wave of national discontent with Donald Trump’s presidency.
As the voting process played out, the MC rolled over 13 Libra, in exact square to the US natal Sun at 13 Cancer; 14 Libra, exactly conjoined the US Saturn, symbol of the presidency itself; 15 Libra, exactly squaring transit Saturn at 15 Capricorn; and 16 Libra, exactly squared Trump’s natal asteroid Nemesis at 16 Cancer, a point representing cosmic justice, self-undoing and ruin.
This also brought Mars at 17 Libra to the forefront. With Mars on the MC and Jupiter on the Ascendant, the stage is set for a political battle royal. Mars squared Trump’s Nemesis also symbolizes the military aid which he held over the head of Ukraine’s president as a penalty for noncompliance with his request to investigate a domestic political rival, and which now threatens his downfall.
A Grand Cross of asteroid Troemper at 22 Capricorn with Pluto at 20, opposing Washingtonia at 24 Cancer and squared asteroid Ukraina at 24 Libra and TNO Eris at 23 Aries fills in much of the details of the underlying facts and political atmosphere of the impeachment. Troemper is our celestial referent for the President; its conjunction with Pluto shows corruption, intimidation, coercion and criminality to be the basis of the complaint.
Troemper’s opposition to Washingtonia and square to Ukraina shows the conflict between the official government policy towards Ukraine, which supported military aid, and Trump’s private agenda with the beleaguered country, which caused him to withhold it for personal political gain. Likewise, the opposition to Washingtonia paired with the square to Eris suggests the fractious, divisive atmosphere pervading the capital, much of it engendered by Trump, and now exacerbated by his impeachment.
Asteroid Truth at 19 Sagittarius also conjoins the Jupiter/Moon/Ascendant combo, signaling the preeminence of fact-finding to the investigation, while asteroid Veritas (Latin for “truth”) at 26 Scorpio is conjoined Mercury at 27, providing a further focus on verbal veracity; these appropriately oppose asteroid Lie at 20 Taurus.
Truth opposes Trump’s natal Sun, a useful commentary on his inimical stance toward truth, and Mercury/Veritas conjoins his natal IC at 24 Scorpio, suggesting that his lack of truth-speaking is at the foundation of the matter, while Lie is conjoining both Trump’s natal MC, representing the elevation of dishonesty, and his natal Lie placement. Thus Trump has been experiencing a “Lie Return”, a time of doubling down on deception.
Ironically (or perhaps by cosmic design), Lie first returned to its natal place at 17 Taurus for this latest pass on July 25, 2019, the very day of the now-infamous phone call with Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky, which is at the heart of the impeachment inquiry. Lie turned retrograde at 27 Taurus, on his MC and aspecting all four natal Angles, on September 20, just before the impeachment investigation began, and will conjoin its natal degree for a second time on November 11-13, just as public testimony is slated to begin. Lie will station direct at 9 Taurus, closely squared Trump’s natal Pluto at 10 Leo, on December 29, and will make its final pass over natal Lie in mid-February 2020.
The Mercury/Veritas-Lie polarity is T-squared by asteroid House at 25 Aquarius, still accompanied by Achilles, Damocles and Askalaphus at 18, 20 and 27 Aquarius. This establishes the House of Representatives (House) as Trump’s Achilles heel, his weak spot (Achilles), a source of potential doom (Damocles), based in an inherent flaw (Achilles also) of dishonesty (Lie), as exposed initially by the whistleblower (Askalaphus).
The dramatis personae of the Democratic side of the equation are well represented also. Asteroid Nancy at 13 Virgo (for Speaker Pelosi) conjoins an exact pairing of asteroid Nemesis and TNO Orcus at 11 Virgo, with asteroid Whitehouse also in the mix from 7 Virgo, and asteroid Diana at 4 Virgo.
Nemesis represents ruin or downfall, typically self-created, while Orcus indicates severe consequences for oath-breaking; the PR tack the Dems are taking is The Donald’s cavalier attitude toward his oath of office and his disregard for national security, with Pelosi spearheading that approach.
Whitehouse with Diana is interesting; Diana is named for the Roman goddess of the hunt, and that’s how Trump must feel right now, like a hunted animal. Whitehouse with Orcus and Nemesis defines the source of the oath-breaking and whose downfall is imminent.
But Nancy Pelosi will be taking a back seat in the official proceedings to Adam Schiff, Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, giving him the spotlight. Appropriately, both asteroid Adam and asteroid Schiff conjoin the 7 Scorpio Sun, Adam at 2 Scorpio and Schiff at 9, placing the congressman in a highly visible position. Also with this stellium is asteroid America at 1 Scorpio, identifying the country Schiff will attempt to illuminate by the investigation. These all oppose Uranus at 4 Taurus, inciting controversy and volatility, but also perhaps providing enlightenment and insight, and a potential revolution in national public opinion.
It’s too early yet to say how the American people, already supportive of Trump’s removal by a slim margin, will react to the public testimony phase of the impeachment process, and how that, in turn, may affect the trial in the Senate. So far, with asteroids Whitehouse and Senator conjoined, Trump has enjoyed virtually unwavering support in the Senate, but public outcry could sway that resolve.
It’s an interesting fact that this dynamic duo, which has been locked in an extended conjunction since late 2018, never more than five degrees apart throughout, begins to separate just before Thanksgiving, even as the House is expected to vote out articles of impeachment for Senate consideration. By the end of 2019, the two will be separating by more than ten degrees, and Senator turns retrograde on January 11, 2020, backing away from Whitehouse even more.
