The Jupiter-Saturn square occurring on June 22 (see chart) is the second of a series of three which began on December 27, 2005, and will finish on October 25, 2006.

December 27 was when the vast extent of the NSA spying on U.S. citizens began to be known. Jupiter is in Scorpio, expanding nefarious activities, and Saturn is in Leo, calling such behavior to account.

The Saturn-Jupiter cycle lasts 20 years, and refers to the outward workings of society. The current cycle began with their conjunction in May of 2000 at 23 Taurus, an important degree for Dick Cheney. This is also the degree of the Mercury of the New York Stock Exchange, and the degree of the discovery of Ceres on January 1, 1801. The NYSE, Ceres, and Cheney all figure strongly in this cycle, and will continue to do so until it ends in 2020.

23 degrees of Taurus also creates a very productive grand earth trine with the U.S. Pluto in Capricorn and Neptune in Virgo, supporting the worldwide spread of U.S. capitalism.

Taurus means that money, resources, and goods of all kinds are on the front burner of society’s work. The Taurus cycles have traditionally been periods of plutocratic expansion. Prior Taurus cycles began in 1880 and in 1940, both of them years which set in motion prodigious outputs of goods and huge corporate profits in the U.S.

However, Taurus also refers to Earth herself, and we do have an opportunity to develop a new and productive relationship with Gaia.

This 10-month series of three squares represents the first turning point in the current Jupiter-Saturn cycle. This is the last earth sign cycle for 600 years, so there’s an urgency about getting right our relation to earth.

In the chart set for Washington DC, Mercury sits at the top, like a third eye overseeing the city. Information regarding GW will be widely disseminated. This Mercury at 27 Cancer outlets on the U.S. Pluto at 27 Capricorn. Pluto here is a strong lever of power, particularly in regard to propaganda and manipulation, with its close relation to Mercury.

Fear will be the motive (so what’s new?), for Juno, often a victim, conjoins Mercury—along with Saturn, Vesta, and Mars. And this Juno in the heavens—now sitting above Washington—is conjoined Bush’s Ascendant. He is very very afraid, and likely equally as defensive.

The fear theme is repeated, for the Ascendant of the chart conjoins the U.S. Juno. It is also very close to GW’s Jupiter at 19 Libra, which gives him feelings of entitlement as ruler. His mind will not be working well. (George’s Jupiter conjoins the U.S. Juno, expanding that locus of fear in the nation.)

Jupiter is still retrograde, encouraging individual rather than group ethical judgments. Saturn is direct, encouraging authenticity.

At their final square in October, they will be both be direct. That square occurs when Jupiter has reached 24 degrees of Scorpio, and Saturn is at 24 degrees of Leo. This is interesting, for remember the original conjunction was at 23 Taurus. We have a very close fixed sign T-cross. The fixed sign pressure cooker may just burst.
