J U N E 2 0 0 4 R E T R O G R A D E W A T C H  by Maya del Mar Uranus turns retrograde at 7 Pisces on June 10. It will remain retrograde until just after the fall election, when it turns direct. All three of the outer planets—Uranus, Neptune and Pluto—work on our deep unconscious, our non-rational selves. All retrograde planets give us opportunities for assimilation, and for re-evaluation. Uranus is the disrupter, the shaker-upper, and the enlightener. It shakes us out of our lethargy and our comfortable status quo, and insists that we look at things in a new way. Uranus works primarily on the mental plane of catalyzing new ideas. It is also connected to our ideals. When a planet is retrograde, we turn its energies inward. We are less influenced by the society around us. During the next five months, then, we will be developing new perspectives, more true to ourselves. Especially, we will see needs for change and reform in new, more independent ways. Our ideals will also change. This is a vital period for political campaigners. Stressing needs for change will work well during these next months. When sun opposes Uranus, towards the end of August, we can have conscious awareness of these inner changes. This coincides with the Republican convention. Interesting timing. Watch events around for clues about coming reforms. New perspectives can be expressed at the election. Venus turns direct on June 29 at 10 Gemini. Changed values and priorities can move into manifestation then. All Venusian activities pick up steam and can move ahead. This is just in time to give the U.S. and GW Bush a strong Venusian start for their solar years (whatever Venus is meaning now—watch and see).
