The Aquarius New Moon offers an energy portal to re-center in our highest ideals in the midst of implementing our goals (established under Capricorn). This particular lunation is marked by a concentrated dose of Aquarian energies, and the needreflected in the continued Saturnian and Cancercian influencesto avoid throwing the baby out with the bath water, focusing on integrating our unique vision and idealism as we persevere with our agenda of professional, creative and worldly goals, established or reaffirmed around or before the Winter Solstice portal. (If you didnt set goals then, you may still enjoy our Solstice-New Moon meditation in the December/January issues of Daykeeper.)
In the tornados eye of our worldly whirl, we may provoke a meditative moment to reconnect with our one lasting goal: spiritual awareness, as expressed and expanded in consciousness-raising practices, attitudes and activities. A reality-check in the direction of our highest truth can help us meet the "challenge of nature" posed by the Sabian symbol (as shared by Maya) for this lunation, with its cryptic reminder, "Dust you were, dust you must become."
Which part of our goals will not turn to dust? The Spanish poet Lope de Vega concludes one of his sonnets with a sentence that can be taken as a response to that challenge, "polvo será, más polvo enamorado," "dust it shall be, but dust [thats] in love."
Our reflections and prayers now may keep the lasting life of love and committed faith ignited throughout this years work, and into the timeless, invisible beyond.
January New Moon Prayers, Part I: Reality-Check for Your Unique Visiona and Highest Ideals
1) WRITE ONE OR TWO SENTENCES DESCRIBING YOUR IDEAL PERSONAL AWARENESS.
2) NOW DESCRIBE IN A LINE OR TWO YOUR IDEAL WORLD.
3) REVIEW YOUR DAILY LIFE TO IDENTIFY WAYS IN WHICH YOU MAY BETRAY YOUR IDEALS DUE TO PRESSURE FROM THE OPINIONS OR HABITS OF OTHERS, OR CONCERN FOR THEIR APPROVAL.
4) ESTABLISH FIVE SPECIFIC GOALS (HOW MUCH TIME, OTHER ALLOTMENTS OF RESOURCES YOU WILL DEDICATE ON A WEEKLY BASIS) FOR THE PURPOSE OF RAISING YOUR OWN CONSCIOUSNESS, AND FOR OTHER, DESIGNATED CAUSES WHICH IMPROVE THE WORLD.
PART II: Affirm the Truth for Divine Security
Repeat aloud for at least seven minutes, slowly and with feeling. Put special emphasis on the words I am and We are:
AS I HOLD TRUE TO THE LAWS OF SPIRIT AND THE VOICE OF SPIRIT WITHIN ME, I AM DIVINELY SECURE FROM ALL LIMITATION. THERE IS ONE POWER OPERATING BEHIND AND ABOVE ALL APPEARANCES; THE ONE POWER IS NOW PROTECTING ALL CREATED BEINGS; WE ARE DIVINELY SECURE FROM ALL LIMITATION.
Part III: Moon-Watch Followup for the Visionary Within
Spend at least ten minutes daily throughout this Moon cycle to honor the visionary within, distributed in five to seven minutes with the above affirmation, and three to five minutes writing down your innovative approaches to your goals and projects.
Recommended reading for this lunation: The Quimby Manuscripts, or anything related to life and works of Phineas Quimby. This 19th Century Aquarius bucked all medical and ecclesiastic authority, as well as popular belief, while persevering arduously in his lifes work of proving the healing and clairvoyant powers of the mind. This line of investigation, which he tied to Jesus' practical teachings, was revolutionary in its originality and power, and seemed quite weird to many people in his day (and still does, despite being widely associated with higher wisdom). His line of reasoning, and practice, ultimately became one of the major cornerstones of New Thought, and New Age thinking in general. What would have happened if Quimby had let doubt, disapproval or controversy silence his unique vision?
What kind of revolution would take place in your sphere of influence if you stopped ignoring that which in your heart you know is true?
