Saturn retrograde in Gemini

September Retrograde Watch
by Maya del Mar

Each month we will give the dates of the month’s planetary "stations" in this spot.

From Earth’s standpoint, planets periodically reverse their direction. We call this a retrograde period. It is a time to assimilate that planet’s energies, to bring them home to us and work with them on inner levels. During retrograde times, people are idiosyncratic—more true to their natures—in their expression of the retrograde energy.

On the days surrounding a planet’s "turn," it is moving very slowly or standing still in the heavens. We call this a station. Energy is very pronounced then, and events on earth reflect that emphasis.

During the few days around the directional change of a planet, its action manifests more strongly. We can see its principle more clearly then. Pay attention to the station days. They’re always significant.

What a stable month in the heavens! Saturn has the turning directions all to itself. Nary even an asteroid, nor Chiron, nor Transpluto makes a turn this month.

But Saturn’s turning is a biggie. On September 26, two days after a First Quarter Moon in Saturn’s sign of Capricorn, Saturn turns retrograde at 15 Gemini.

Saturn is more at home in retrograde phase than are the other planets. Retrogradation is a time to review things, to go over them, to fix them. Saturn needs to do things right, so this process is quite natural to him.

In Gemini the subject is communication. We look at all the communication glitches that have shown up in our lives since Saturn entered Gemini in April—and Saturn will point out the glitches. For the next four and a half months we get to fix them. Double this opportunity in October when Mercury goes retrograde.

This opportunity to redo mind and communication stuff is enhanced by Sun in Virgo, and by the Saturn-Pluto opposition now occurring. Read both those articles in this issue of Daykeeper. FOCUS AND REFOCUS of our minds, perceptions, and attitudes is the key challenge for the next several months.
We have excellent planetary help in the heavens.

Saturn is conjoined Vesta, an indication that investments, especially in high tech, will take a turn, perhaps with Saturn another contraction. Saturn and Vesta both oppose Pluto, which indicates big action. Deep transformation is Pluto’s forte. Earth changes are always possible with either Pluto or Saturn, let alone both together. Today’s action will build up to the exact Saturn-Pluto opposition on November 1-2.
