Maya's May Travel Advisory

by Maya del Mar

In general, travel during May should be OK. Both Mercury and Jupiter, the two major travel planets, are freshly direct, and will speed us along. Problematical are the many stressful aspects during the first half of the month—which can be stimulating and helpful, as well as challenging, the instability of the retrograde turns, especially on May 17, and the many long VOC moon periods throughout the month. VOC means unpredictable outcomes. Best not to start on a trip during VOC hours, although once we’re traveling, we will notice only minor effects.

Last month I said I would let you know about traveling on the possibly difficult day of April 16, because I was doing it. Crowds of air travelers were certainly a holdup in some places that day. I had to start at 4 a.m. because of road work, and met those huge crowds at the little Oakland Airport. We had a good hour there just standing in line. There were a couple of other minor inconveniences—plane late, miles to walk in the Ontario Airport, but basically that was all—just normal delays. Crystal’s trip from Mexico, her first alone with her little boy, fortunately went like clockwork. We were there to watch her plane land.

Susan joined us by train, and the four of us returned to the Bay Area by train, a real pleasure. Trains are great for traveling, and now Amtrak has excellent bus connections to most places. The cars were new, and very comfortable. After experiencing the crowded seats of planes and autos, it is luxurious to spread out and walk about on the train. (And watch the scenery besides.) It is satisfying to body, mind, and spirit. ID is checked thoroughly, but quickly. There were no lines for security checks. If you have time, I highly recommend train travel. We found it minimum hassle with maximum comfort. And on time all the way.

May 1.
Moon is VOC until 2:03 p.m. EDT. After that, travel is fine.

May 2. Good.

May 3. Excellent until 12:49 p.m., when Moon goes VOC.

May 4. Good.

May 5 and May 6. Excellent.

May 7. Poor. VOC Moon all day, and challenging planets besides.

May 8. Excellent.

May 9. VOC after 9:03 a.m. EDT. Moon enters Aquarius at 6:46 p.m., and Aquarius Moon tends to move air travel right along.

May 10. Fine.

May 11. Excellent until Moon goes VOC at 3:31 p.m. EDT.

May 12 and May 13. Excellent. Especially good for water travel.

May 14 and May 15. Excellent. Everything in life moves right along. On Friday feelings of frustration and irritation may arise. Just calm yourself down.

May 16. VOC from 8:17 a.m. until 3:57 p.m.

May 17. Very poor. The instability of three planets turning retrograde plus being dark-of-the-moon time make this a poor time to travel.

May 18. Fine, although this dark-of-the-moon time really asks for an inner orientation rather than an outer one.

May 19 and May 20.
Good.

May 21. OK, except for VOC Moon from 8:13 a.m. to 4:35 p.m.

May 22. Excellent until Moon goes VOC at 2:58 p.m.

May 23. Mixed. Travel planets are very helpful, but Moon is VOC for the entire day. Advice: just keep your goal in mind.

May 24. OK until afternoon, when the possibly malevolent Mars-Saturn sets in.

May 25. Good. Best in afternoon.

May 26. VOC from 5:42 a.m. EDT to 3:52 p.m. Otherwise fine.

May 27. Mixed. This day has good travel energy, but it also has surprises.

May 28. Poor. Problematic aspect this morning, and VOC Moon 12:17 p.m.

May 29. Fine.

May 30 and May 31. Excellent.

Happy vacationing!

Preview: June and July will generally be fine for traveling. With many retrogrades, inner awareness can be greatly enhanced by trips. In August we come into Mercury retrograde again, with its frequent travel glitches, but with its rewards of renewing the past.
