Daykeeper's April 2014 General Monthly Influences

by Terry Lamb

There’s no doubt, April 2014 will be a month to remember, a milestone period when everything changes. It presents us with a Cardinal Crossroads. The energies in the Cardinal Cross of Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) have been building over several years, and now the accumulated force reaches a peak as all the fire planets—Sun, Mars, and Jupiter—stimulate us simultaneously via those signs, with a little help from Mercury. It’s time for action!

The good news is that something’s going to happen. The bad news is that something’s going to happen. We don’t know entirely what the events and outcome will be, but we at least know where it will occur. What is most beautiful about it is that we have the power to shift what happens, and by taking small steps carve the path we want to follow out of the rock of our foundation.

What we experience will depend a lot on the groundwork we’ve been steadily establishing via the String of Pearls, the hook-up of sextiles and trines that has periodically encircled the heavens in the past two years. We still have some of this mojo left, so if you’ve got more to do to prepare, you still have time.

It will feel much like riding the rapids. Events will cascade in quick succession—not all at once—which is perfect for managing the ride. It will certainly feel overwhelming at times, a kind of childbirth-rebirth experience. If we breathe through the contractions and change position to facilitate the process, we’ll be blessed with a new/renewed life come April 28, the New Moon Eclipse.

Here’s how it will play out:

First, the Sun gets in the act and primes the pump for the lasting effects that come from the rest of April’s contacts. The Sun rallies our energies, helps us collect and focus our inner forces, and tests them. We have the confidence to face what’s there, or even take a few steps to test the ground we’re about to tread. The dates for this are April 1–8.

Then, we get a strong dose of Mercury on April 13–15, when our mind turns every corner to gain maximum understanding of every facet of the situation. It will work better to focus on ingenuity and flexibility over plans and benchmarks. It’s time to keep moving rather than to try to nail things down. In the midst of the Mercury period, we experience the dissolving process of the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. This underscores the need to be unconstructed during this time, as we engage in a deep release of old patterns. Anxiety could come up as we try to find something to hold on to, but you know what to do—turn over on your back and float.

Finally, on April 20–23, all the important chess pieces change places: Jupiter moves forward over the Cardinal Cross zone as Mars moves backward (retrograde) into it. This powerful mutual application occurs at the same time as the fifth (of seven) exact squares of Uranus and Pluto. The energetic process related to this will be subtle and deep.

When outer bodies (or any planets) change position with respect to each other, it changes the order in which we process things. Then we add in the multiple recent hits (from 2011 to the current Mars retrograde) we’ve had to the sensitive point established by the last Saturn-Pluto conjunction (1981–82, 28° Libra), and we get a powerful brew of long-standing conflicts, wounds, and longings. We have an open doorway to resolve submerged relationship issues that run straight into the heart of what separates us all from each other, the opportunity to heal all of humankind in our own small way.

Whenever the slow-moving bodies interact, we are dealing with forces too large for us to contain, because to understand them fully we have to experience an entire cycle of their movement. Since Pluto moves through one complete revolution in 248 years, until humans live that long, we will be grappling with half-truths and the need to go inward to that part of us which lives more than 248 years—to the soul/spirit. When we connect with our eternal Self, we have the answers we need.

In the world arena, the political situation surrounding Russia’s recent actions will heat up if not resolved by this time. Outcomes will depend on the ability of world leaders to listen to a resentful and secretive leader who was shaped by a culture of distrust. Firm and fair boundaries must be set. This is an opportunity for the world to deal in a more enlightened way with deep psychic wounds that scar a culture and its leadership. Economic instability may be magnified through this process, but only those things that are independently unstable will be vulnerable during this time.

There are some mitigating and balancing influences. Venus enters its exaltation sign of Pisces on April 5, and our outcomes in relationship are finally handed over from Saturn to Jupiter. It was challenging but fruitful when she was in Capricorn and sextile Saturn, but when she moved into Aquarius in early March, she squared her benefactor, and it got a bit tricky. In Pisces, Venus now moves from a square to her ruler Saturn to a trine to her new ruler Jupiter, whose blessings increase our beneficial outcomes ever so much.

Keep in mind though, that there’s still a sticking point where intimate and inter-gender relationships are concerned, because Venus is quincunx to her natural partner, Mars, who has a few problems of his own. Give it time, and all will turn out well, even if we have to wait until the summer to see it happen.

The Full Moon on April 16 is also a Total Lunar Eclipse occurring at 0:42 am PT/25°16' Aries/Libra, visible to most of the Western Hemisphere. This powerful event will take our current circumstances through a mysterious transition, from which they will emerge in a new form. Some things will end, leaving an opening for what’s next in our lives. Be ready for that door to open on the Solar Eclipse New Moon cycle that starts April 28.

The situations that arise around the time of an eclipse will be our primary focus for six months, but it can take 18 months for the growth associated with those situations to be completely fulfilled. What happens on this eclipse will tie in with events on the last Lunar Eclipse, October 18 last year.

By the end of the month, we will see a new inner landscape, and a change in the outer one as well for some people. These are the times that strengthen our souls, and if we look at our world from that perspective as much as we can, we will glide over the rapids with greater ease.
