General Influences, June 2003

Flowing air and water dominate during June.

The water signs have it this month. First, this means lots of water—rain, floods, storms, water in all its guises. Secondly, emotions have center stage. Many of them will rise from deep, mysterious places, and may be ultimately puzzling, and even threatening. Yet, a strong airy Gemini influence this month will want to rationalize everything, put it in its proper place and category.

Both water and air share the quality of flow. They do not stand still. Where they will be next can be unpredictable. It depends on how the situations in which they flow shape the currents. They draw heavily on their environments for direction.

Mutable signs also have this quality of flexibility. Our dominant air sign—Gemini—is also a mutable sign. The most dominant water sign, Pisces, is also mutable. Flexibility, then, is a key quality of June.

In May we had the four fixed signs, holding their ground, gathering their power, struggling with one another for dominance. This month we are released to make those changes which have been building in our lives. We can flow with life, and adjust to fit into the circumstances in which we find ourselves. We need not feel that every move is fraught with significance, and set in stone. We can experiment and shift.

Gemini is great in a bureaucracy, classifying ever-changing rules. There Geminis have a structure in which to channel their mental flow. Water signs can be natural therapists and healers because of their ability to empathize. Connecting with others provides their channel. Social work is one easy expression of air and water working together in a versatile way.

Saturn enters Cancer, where it remains for two years.

Saturn is the Great Teacher. With Saturn, we have experiences which are sobering, and which help us to mature. Cancer is an emotional water sign, and the sign of family and security. Like the crab, Cancer needs its safe place, and its shell to protect its tenderness.

Saturn is also a builder, and with Saturn in Cancer we will focus on building safe places for ourselves. Saturn in Cancer gives the impetus to build walls against the great floods of emotion which are always tumbling down on Cancer. For starters, we want our own physical home, and we want it to be solid. We want steady income, plus a stash for a rainy day. We want a full refrigerator. Our ultimate security is family, and Saturn in Cancer is focused on family—sometimes in a reverse manner—to erect walls against the threats of family.

We will center our work on homes, family, and both financial and emotional security for the next two years. Our nation is also our home, and national security will be especially important everywhere. Cancer fosters patriotism, and loyalty to the clan.

Saturn always tests us in the sign through which it’s moving. We do notice it. Saturn’s transit through Cancer is always especially fateful for the United States, a Cancer nation. GW Bush was also born with Sun in Cancer, and Saturn there as well. Both Bush and the nation will be tested during this time.

Saturn was last in Cancer in 1973-75. During that time, President Nixon was disgraced, and resigned. His Vice-President, Spiro Agnew, also had to resign due to corruption scandals. The Democrats won Congress in a huge sweep.

OPEC adjusted the oil supply, and made it scarce so that prices rose considerably. The Alaskan Pipeline was started. The Vietnam War ended.

All of those events have a great impact on exactly what is happening now in American politics. The Republicans blamed the Demos for nailing Nixon, and for the election sweep, and resolved to never let that happen again. They also resolved that OPEC would no longer control oil. In fact, the U.S. Security Plan which sets out U.S. dominance of the world, beginning with Iraq, was conceived then by Donald Rumsfeld, another Cancer. And the military resolved that they would never again be defeated.

Saturn in Cancer is always a little dicey. Try to build walls to keep out water—or feelings. We will finish these two years older and wiser, as they say.

June has another show-stopper. Mars enters Pisces for a six-month sojourn, which includes two retrograde months—August and September. As if Pisces wasn’t already stirred up enough with exciting Uranus entering it. Now we have stimulating Mars and shocking Uranus coming together in the dreamy, often confusing sign of Pisces.

Mars and Uranus join in Pisces to bring surprises.

Uranus turns retrograde at 3 Pisces on June 7, emphasizing its disruptive nature for a few days around that time. Mars enters Pisces on June 16, and joins Uranus on June 23. In other signs, I would look for an unexpected shock. Pisces, however, tends to be gentle, subtle, and non-confrontational, and the expression of this powerful assertive energy is apt to be low-key, chaotic rather than shocking. It does, however, begin a new two-year Mars-Uranus cycle, where Mars is carrying out Uranus’ dictum of change, freedom, revolution and independence.

Pisces deals with the arts, film, addiction, and oil, among other things. For people trying to quit addictions, this is a fine time to set a program in motion.

Pisces is a spiritual rather a material sign, and these next six months ask us to get our spiritual lives in order. Although Saturn insists that we do some grounding, it works best if it arises through a focus on spiritual motivations and means. Don’t sweat the small stuff.

Saturn and Uranus trine for much of the month. This is an enjoyable, freeing aspect. We find that we can easily accomplish what we aim for. This is also excellent for emotional grounding, for solidifying relationships, as well as for grounding other things about which we care especially.

In general, June is a harmonious, flowing, easy month, where we can accomplish what we set out to do. Family responsibilities, and security needs, will grab our attention.

Maya's June Daily Success Guide

Note: A VOC Moon period is when the Moon is making no further major planetary aspects before it changes signs. Moon and its aspects are strongly associated with our everyday behavior, and without those aspects to direct our course, we are left much more free to pursue our own ends in our own way. It is like you’re driving down the freeway and find the road signs removed for awhile. On the one hand, plans may go awry, you may miss your exit; on the other hand, inner work is greatly favored as those external "instructions" are reduced.

Times used are EST, because the overall influences for the United States are centered in Washington DC.

SUNDAY JUNE 1

This morning we can let ourselves assimilate yesterday’s Eclipse New Moon at 10 Gemini. This is our second eclipse within a month, and together they create a big whammy for change. Last night Moon opposed Pluto and trined Mars to give us a very pushy Gemini start as we move into a month of focus on connections. This afternoon at 4:55 p.m. EDT Moon conjoins Saturn to pin down and structure this new push into the universe. This is Moon’s last conjunction with Saturn in Gemini for another 29 years. The final nails now go into our Gemini structures—which are intended to hold our connections and our communications for the next 28-29 years. Yes, the morning is serious and constructive. All communication structures receive extra attention now.

But the mood changes when Moon enters Cancer at 5:27 p.m., and immediately trines exciting Uranus in Pisces. We move into the watery realms, filled with mystery and infinite possibilities. Freedom beckons, and we’re ready for unusual adventures.

MONDAY JUNE 2

Moon is in emotional Cancer, emphasizing family-style connections. We like to be where we feel comfortable and secure. This is often at home, although for many the workplace becomes their major home. And yet, at the same time we feel a desire to fly high, like the sky’s the limit. Optimism and vision have a grip on us, and confidence can soar. We can imagine a better future, and communicate this to those people near and dear to us.

Exuberant Jupiter has been in orb with imaginative Neptune for a few days, and will continue in orb through June 7. However, tonight they have their exact opposition, which is when we feel their connection most keenly. It will be a wakeful, and potentially joyful night, a great sendoff for Saturn’s entrance into Cancer tomorrow.

This is the third and final act of Jupiter in Leo opposing Neptune in Aquarius, and represents a turning point in how we use that expansive combination. It is creative, and it is naturally politically oriented. The first act occurred last September, when Bush spoke before the UN, arguing for attacking Iraq and saying the U.S. would go it alone if necessary, and the UN would be "irrelevant" if they didn’t go along.

It was followed shortly after by Bush’s announcement of his National Security Strategy, which included such policies as

1) nuclear weapons will be the first resort, not the last,
2) pre-emptive strikes,
3) unilateralism,
4) international laws to be ignored,
5) diplomacy and stability not important,
6) running many concurrent conflicts,
7) strengthening the U.S. military, and
8) reserving the right to police, punish and annihilate peoples that the U.S. deems "enemies of civilization."

Shortly thereafter Congress gave Bush permission to do what he wanted to about Iraq.

The second act occurred on February 15, when worldwide mass peace marches represented a historic turning point in the expression of people power. Now we are finishing the last act. Observe yourself and the world.

These next few days are a great time to use prayer and visualization power to help peace, and to envision a better world. We can all help to bring Saturn into its new sign with a symphony for peace murmuring in the background around the world.

TUESDAY JUNE 3

Moon continues in Cancer, sign of home, family, and country. Loving, compassionate vibes dominate the day, compatible with Cancer. Moon goes VOC at 12:27 p.m. EDT, under a Venus connection. Nine hours later Saturn enters Cancer, under a VOC Cancer moon. This is an emotional day. It is also mystical, for Neptune also remains strong. Power issues are on the minds of many. The need for security and nesting strengthens. Cancer is the sign of both the U.S. and of GW, and they—we—begin a two-year testing period.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 4

Moon is in confident Leo. We know we can be successful. Create your story, and dramatize it on the stage of life.

THURSDAY JUNE 5

Moon continues in Leo, and today the supporting cast comes on the scene. We may be up early getting the show on the road, and be up late directing it. This day is long, creative, and filled with vitality.

FRIDAY JUNE 6

Sleep late if you can, and catch up on your sleep. Moon is VOC until 10:51 a.m. EDT, when it enters Virgo. These next two days are good problem-solving and work days, but the work is apt to be unusual, and of a nature that changes the status quo. Uranus turns retrograde around midnight, and this indicates a drastic shift or disruption somewhere. Nervous energy will be high. This may be the weekend when the public communications companies work madly to merge and expand after the June 2 decision of the Federal Communications Commission creating huge new deregulation.

SATURDAY JUNE 7

First Quarter Moon at 17 Virgo occurs at 4:28 p.m. EDT. Pluto takes charge now, which means that this first quarter breakthrough is one of deep transformation. With Uranus also strong now, there’s no messing around. A sudden event may pull us into an unforeseen vortex of energy. Relationships will be a theme, and we will establish some new ground. Our compassion is called on to alleviate suffering, perhaps through the need to feed millions of Iraqis. Loving feelings are rising. At the same time victims are apparent. Perhaps some of them are American victims of a sudden narrowing of media options. Perhaps others are victims, in the U.S. and elsewhere, of an expanded program of nuclear weapons research.

SUNDAY JUNE 8

Show your love this morning in practical ways. At 12:27 p.m. Moon goes VOC. It enters Libra at 3:30 p.m. The night is social and serious. Perhaps we want to discuss yesterday’s events, especially as to how they relate to our own security. And perhaps we feel some apprehension about tomorrow.

MONDAY JUNE 9

Moon continues in Libra, and balance and harmony are important, especially in relationships. Justice is also on our minds now. This is the peak day of the big breakthrough promised by our first quarter moon on Saturday. It’s a turning point in use of power. This is the midpoint of a one-year Pluto-Sun cycle which began last December 9. Much was set in motion in the world that week, including an election in India that some Indians called the death of democracy in India. Saddam handed his weapons lists to the UN then, and immediately Powell and Rice absconded with them before anyone else could see them. The dollar lost more ground compared with the Euro, and United Air filed for bankruptcy. I had a dream which showed me a personal energy drain, and helped me to release the past. How do we each balance relationships to enhance our own security? The concept of equal power is essential now.

Oil in the service of security continues to be our national theme.

TUESDAY JUNE 10

Venus entered chatty Gemini last night, and there are many connections to be made. Today we are busy making them. Again, perhaps we dealmake into the wee hours. Moon goes VOC at 1:00 p.m. EDT, and the afternoon is VOC time. Take a nap then if you can, and prepare for an active evening. At 5:39 p.m., Moon enters do or die Scorpio, and we really get down to the nitty gritty. Challenges attract us. Tonight is a good time to work with our own projects. We can accomplish something tangible.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 11

Moon continues in Scorpio, and we don’t pull any punches. Victims are crying out. Is anyone listening? Women may be in the spotlight now, especially concerned with security and nourishment. This is apt to be a strange day. Our state of consciousness may feel more surreal than usual. We may find ourselves getting sleepy—perhaps closer to dreamland than waking reality. Creativity can thrive.

THURSDAY JUNE 12

We definitely perk up today. Early this morning Venus squares Uranus in Pisces to bring us another surprise, likely something pleasant and exciting. Scorpio Moon heads towards a square with Mars, exact this afternoon, and this means good work energy, as well as possible conflict. Research would be very productive. Moon goes VOC at 5:51 p.m. EDT, and enters visionary Sagittarius within the next half-hour. Tonight Mercury enters Gemini, and our nervous systems will be going full blast.

FRIDAY JUNE 13

This Friday the thirteenth looks fortunate, for Moon is in lucky Sag. In fact, all of our affairs move along very well. This would be a great day to start a three or four-day weekend, with Moon in adventurous Sag today and tomorrow, and then Moon VOC for two whole days—Sunday and Monday. We can give ourselves a chance to relax after the exciting past week, which will be climaxed by tomorrow’s full moon.

SATURDAY JUNE 14

Full Moon at 24 Sagittarius occurs at 7:16 a.m. EDT. Gemini is about communication and connections, willy nilly, without priorities. Sag comes along to help us see the big picture, and to bring understanding and perspective to the information which we’ve been gathering. Mercury, in fact, has just crossed over North Node, bringing renewed focus and consciousness to our goals in terms of values and priorities. We have the information which we need to see where we’re headed.

Furthermore, Mercury is open to enlightenment now from Uranus. Intuition can show us new ways. Washington may be in a dither, unsure which way to turn. Mutable signs rule there. However, as usual in Washington, aggression solves the problem, with Mars squaring the Nodes. Also in Washington, the fixed star Benetnash, generally associated with catastrophes, is on the nadir.

This is another high-energy day. Fire sign Sagittarius is always on the move, and add disruptive Uranus and messenger Mercury to the pot and you have a very bubbling stew. The topic of globalization may be paramount now, and there are apt to be big demonstrations against it.

Moon enters serious Capricorn at 6:38 p.m. Saturday night. It will give us further clues on the new structures abuilding. We may be working on our personal security, in fact. At 11:12 p.m. Moon goes VOC, and remains VOC for the next two days.

This Moon is at 23 degrees and 0 minutes. Moon has thus entered the 24th degree, just as a child at one is going into his first year. We use the symbol for 24 degrees.
24 Sagittarius:

"A BLUEBIRD PERCHED ON THE GATE OF A COTTAGE. The reward which meets every effort at integration into a social environment for those who remain true to their own selves. It suggests that the essential technique for successful living is the development of a consciousness in which peace and happiness dwell. There is also a hint that GOOD FORTUNE is going to bless your life."

The big aspect now is Mars about to conjoin Uranus. That impulsive joining runs right down the center of North America, and also through India. It straddles Mexico City and the western edge of Africa. In the U.S. this western plains-mountain strip is an area full of military, weapons, and weapons-making installations and bases. Mars-Uranus can easily gear up for war. In the U.S. chart Mars and Uranus are both in Gemini.

The United States carries all of the ten major planetary lines. In all my years with planetary maps, I’ve never seen such a concentration. They are all west of the Mississippi. With the great emphasis on Ceres this month, it may indicate real problems with the food crops in the U.S. Yes, we have great water sign strength, but the planets occupying those signs—Saturn, Uranus, and in a few days, Mars, all go with dry and/or difficult weather. The result could be drying up of water, and great drought. Or great storms throughout the west. A prominent Juno in Scorpio, which we have this month, can generate stormy weather.

New Moon with Pluto also runs through Mexico, Central America, Lima, Buenos Aires, central Europe, central Africa, and Beijing.

SUNDAY JUNE 15 and MONDAY JUNE 16

These days are reserved for us, a gift from the universe to use as we will. Moon is not sending us her usual messages which clue us in on where to direct our attention, so we are free to wander into our personal byways. The mood is serious. Capricorn has no truck with superficiality. She wants us to be responsible, and focus on useful activities. We might choose to spend some time alone.

At 8:41 p.m. Monday, moon enters lively Aquarius. A couple of hours later, Mars makes its big debut into Pisces. Mars will have a long sojourn in Pisces—six months instead of the usual six weeks. This is because Mars spends two months—August and September—traveling retrograde. Accomplishment will be difficult during much of this six months. Mars likes to drive right for the goal, and he finds himself frustrated in subtle Pisces. Energy can be diffused and weakened. Retrograding puts a further brake on Mars. We will move ahead very slowly towards our goals, and are apt to run into unforeseen obstacles. We can all learn patience. Mars in Pisces is, however, great for music and other arts, as well as for spiritual work. Aligning with spirit is the key to accomplishment while Mars is traveling in Pisces. Intuition is a good doorway for making that connection.

TUESDAY JUNE 17

Moon is in friendly Aquarius with extra good aspects. Relationships with people are excellent. Everyone’s your friend. This is a long, pleasant day filled with harmonious interchanges.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 18

This is another great Aquarian day. Projects begun yesterday can be completed. Food and communication are especially important.

THURSDAY JUNE 19

Moon is in Pisces, the most universal sign. The world is our home, and we are thinking about larger issues, and communicating with a wider community. Mars is creeping up on Uranus (exact on June 23) to stir up some kind of release, and we may be feeling some apprehension or expectation.

FRIDAY JUNE 20

Moon is still in Pisces, a sign of compassion. For 12 hours, from midnight to midnight, Venus stars in the heavens. Pisces is idealistic, and Venus represents love and desire. All levels of love can come together today in unconditional love. (Or, if the addictive part of Pisces dominates, Venus’ desire can be expressed in unhealthy ways.) This can be a super-creative and a super-loving day. Our imaginations can be filled with romantic pictures. In fact, movies and music will draw us. Tonight Mercury joins Venus to start a new one-year cycle of communicating love.

This cycle begins in Gemini, the trading, selling sign. It may be that the Free Trade Association of the Americas, FTAA, is really getting into gear now, especially since this conjunction is right on the U.S. descendant, the place of partnership.

SATURDAY JUNE 21

This is a powerful day, with both last quarter moon and summer solstice occurring within a six-hour space. However, the energy of each of them is quite different.

Last Quarter Moon in Pisces occurs at 10:45 a.m. EDT at 30 Pisces, the very end of the last sign, and the last phase of the moon cycle. It is time to let go of something, just a few hours before our new seasonal start at Solstice. We have three planets in Pisces, and Pisces is a sign of surrender. Pisces works best when we can go with the flow, and trust the universe to know what it’s doing. At last quarter we often experience a reward from our efforts. Our best reward now could be the quality of faith. This quarter moon is almost the same as the sun-moon of Kuwait.

Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere, Winter Solstice in the southern hemisphere, when the Sun enters Cancer, occurs at 3:11 p.m. EDT.

The four cardinal signs bring in the seasons. They are the starters, the initiators, of action. Cancer is one of them, and she brings in family, feelings, needs for security, and desire for home. Aries, the sign that comes in with the Vernal Equinox, brings in new life, with all its goals and challenges.

Moon now is freshly into Aries, so with Sun and Moon both suddenly into cardinal signs, we have a brand new start in developing Cancer’s nesting urges. Demands for housing will shoot up this summer. Cancer is a nurturing sign, so all kinds of care-taking, including the food business, may prosper now.

Mercury and Venus are still joined in Gemini, and communication will thrive.

Sun conjoins Saturn, freshly into Cancer, and Moon squares Saturn. Saturn is the guiding energy for the summer season. It is helped along by Mars and Uranus in Pisces, who get stolid Saturn moving. I believe the combination of Moon in Aries, plus Mars-Uranus, will help us to free ourselves from old family patterns which no longer work for us. Saturn-Uranus will help us create new families and new patterns which give us both security and the space to be ourselves. Saturn encourages us to build something solid and lasting.

Vesta in Libra, and Juno in Scorpio, both help us to focus on partnerships as the core of our security.

The Sabian Symbol for 1 Cancer is the same every summer, and it is appropriate for beginning a new season, especially in the water sign of Cancer:

"ON A SHIP THE SAILORS LOWER AN OLD FLAG AND RAISE A NEW ONE. A radical change of allegiance exteriorized in an exterior act: a point of no return. The dominant Yang force subsides, and allows the Yin force to begin its six-month rise to power. The collective will gradually overcome the individual, and at the end the state will overpower the person. Now, however, the individual enjoys his/her most glorious hour; she exults in her ability to make a "free decision"—i.e., to act as an individual who selects his life and his allegiance. REORIENTATION."

The Sabian Symbol for the Moon at 3 Aries makes a very interesting counterpoint to the Cancerian focus on the individual, particularly in these times of coming to recognize the unity of all life:

"THE CAMEO PROFILE OF A MAN, SUGGESTING THE SHAPE OF HIS COUNTRY. The sustaining power of the Whole, as the individual identifies him/herself with Its life. The concept of the formal-structural identity of the universal macrocosm and the human microcosm is a very important one, as it manifests itself at many levels. It provided an inner sense of security and harmonic strength to archaic humankind. To the modern individual, assailed by surface evidence of meaninglessness and futility, it gives a feeling of participation in the vast tide of Evolution. It is the answer to the tragic sense of alienation so prevalent today. PARTICIPATION IN A GREATER LIFE."

These Sabian Symbols plus the starring planets fit very well together, both in terms of signs and planets. One of the manifestations I would most like to see is a Piscean understanding of the great cycle of life, along with a consciousness of how each of us fits into it in ways which help to sustain life rather than squander it. This is our true security.

Western United States shows up as most active, along with Japan. All the summer’s maps show both of these areas to be especially stimulated by planets.

SUNDAY JUNE 22

Moon continues in enthusiastic Aries, the sign of new starts. There are many harmonious aspects, and an abundance of yang energy. We will be very busy, especially during the afternoon and on into the late night. Plan for an active day.

MONDAY JUNE 23

Moon is VOC in Aries today, but it is not a dull day. Other planetary aspects are piling up, both today and tomorrow, and we will move right along with our lives. Two are notable. One is Mercury opposing Pluto, which can mean both power struggles and deep insights. The other is our big Mars-Uranus conjunction. This is a release which will set something new in motion—in the watery sign of Pisces. This new endeavor will be tentative throughout the summer. Mars is moving slowly, and on July 29 turns retrograde. On September 27 Mars turns direct, within just a few minutes of a conjunction with Uranus. In other words, Mars almost repeats this conjunction at the end of its retrograde—but not quite. Notice today the theme of Mars in Pisces, where it will travel for the next six months. It is most connected to Saturn in Cancer, the energy of building sound emotional structures—often represented by sound physical structures. In Washington it relates to oil, and prominent Juno tells us that someone may be hurt by this building process.

All of these cycle phases occurring today during VOC moon indicates that their outcomes are unpredictable.

TUESDAY JUNE 24

These are two busy days. Yesterday there were four aspects of major planets; today there are five. (The usual is none.) Today’s changes are sturdy and enduring, for Moon is in solid earth sign Taurus. Setting the stage early this morning is Sun conjoined Saturn. This meeting occurs just after Saturn’s entry into Cancer, and Sun, director of the show, gives Saturn it’s new directions. We start an important new cycle, one which begins a brand new building process, a process which also includes new freedoms.

Sun and Saturn in water sign Cancer are closely trine Mars and Uranus in water sign Pisces. This joining of four planets in water signs sounds the basic chord around which the planets will play for the next two years. Sensitivity, feelings, and imagination will be much more important than they have been. Security through partnership is the key, but there will need to be adjustments to make cooperation work well.

Venus opposes Pluto to bring new awareness, and a turning point, to love and desire. Good fortune and optimism can accompany this shift.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 25

Moon in Taurus stimulates expansive feelings this morning, before it goes VOC at 9:41 a.m. EDT. Moon remains VOC until 12:13 p.m. tomorrow. Assimilate yesterday’s changes, as Moon moves through mellow Taurus making minor aspects which can help us to ground those changes.

THURSDAY JUNE 26

Relax this morning, with VOC moon. At 12:13 p.m. EDT, when Moon enters Gemini, the energy immediately livens. We want to be with people, to talk, and to share experiences. This afternoon and evening can be exciting.

FRIDAY JUNE 27

Moon continues in curious, sociable Gemini, and variety is the spice of life. We may have an urge to communicate inspirational information. Life does feel inspiring. This is a great party night.

SATURDAY JUNE 28

Moon is still in Gemini, and life is moving—or we are moving—a mile a minute. Gemini keeps us on the go—always mentally, and usually physically as well. Again, the night too is lively.

Sun squares Vesta today, to begin closing a money-resource cycle which began last July when the Senate passed Fast Track into law. This is another indication that the FTAA might be on the table right now…or should I say behind the scenes. At any rate, investments of all kinds are vitalized.

SUNDAY JUNE 29

This is another active day, but with a whole different tone. Instead of mixing it up with the world, now we want to stick with the home front. Moon entered Cancer late last night, and Mercury enters Cancer this morning. We’re getting a family gathering here, just in time for New Moon at 8 Cancer at 2:39 p.m. EDT this afternoon.

New Moon in Cancer is about making our new start in nesting, and in family. We need to make a home on this earth. It is also a time when we can think about the earth, and be conscious of how it truly is our home. Country is part of home, and patriotism will be high for the next month. Loyalties to groups and to ethnicities will also be emphasized.

Vesta is prominent now, and this means that our attention for the next month will be focused on our investments, those things through which we find security. Because Vesta is in Libra, partnership will play a major role. Libra is also a sign of social justice, and of the law, and we may be especially directed to those fields.

The wheel of this New Moon chart set for Washington, DC is identical to the wheel of the Solstice chart of 8 days ago. This strengthens both of them. (It is also identical to George W. Bush’s Solar Return, re-emphasizing his dominant position.) They both have cardinal sign angular outlets, which mean action and initiative. And the angles of both of them match U.S. and GW Bush planets, so we know the prime initiator of the action is right here at home. The degree at the bottom of both charts is 28 Capricorn, identical to the U.S. Pluto, indicator of the U.S. Plutocracy. The imperium will march on.

On the Ascendant of both charts is Juno in Scorpio, making up a grand trine in water with our Cancer and Pisces stars.

Juno turns direct today at 5 Scorpio, and her activity will be prominent. Juno denotes what we’re looking for in intimate relationships, but she also shows fear, terror, abuse, and victimization. (Jupiter, her husband, treated her badly.)

I spoke of the enhanced emotionalism at this time. It’s certainly likely that with Juno being part of that grand water trine, the Bushies will be busy feeding our susceptible emotions a steady diet of fear of terrorism.

Juno is also about intimacy, and that too is very emotional. Watch Juno closely today and during the next few days. She conjoins the USA progressed retrograde Saturn in Scorpio, the USA voice of authority. When progressed Saturn made that retrograde turn, in 1994, in the USA chart’s house of Congress, the right wing took over Congress with a bang.

Juno will be active in an emotional water trine through most of September.

Moon goes VOC after the New Moon, and remains VOC for the rest of the month. We are apt to be inner-oriented during that time.

The Sabian Symbol for 8 Cancer is:

"A GROUP OF RABBITS DRESSED IN HUMAN CLOTHES WALK AS IF ON PARADE. The tendency of all forms of life to imitate higher forms as a stimulus to growth. The start of all LEARNING PROCESSES."

Perhaps we could put on the costume of living peaceably and sustainably, and pretend that this is our parade.

New Moon flows through western United States, Mexico, western Africa, Europe, Russia, India, and Japan big-time.

Active Mars-Uranus lines move through Alaska, Brazil, central Asia, and again, big-time in Japan.

MONDAY JUNE 30

Moon is VOC in Cancer until tomorrow morning. But Mercury is busy today creating its personal water trine. This morning it trines Uranus in Pisces, and tonight it conjoins Saturn in Cancer. Mercury is the messenger, and it lends awareness to what it touches. We can realize how we are using the combination of Uranus’ freedom and Saturn’s discipline, especially in regard to our emotional vulnerabilities. We may start something important today, but if possible it’s best to wait until tomorrow.

Mercury and Saturn now conjoin the U.S. Venus, planet of money and desire. Here we have another annual cycle starting under a VOC moon.
